Should I advance my timing?
 

I temporarily fixed my cracked timing case with some JB weld a couple months ago, but ive finally got enough money to take it down to the local diesel shop to have them put a new case on it. I figured I would see if i could get them to advance my timing while they have it open. I have a #0 fuel plate, 5" exhaust, and cold air intake. I have plans for this truck in the future, but no time soon (turbo, studs, GSK, etc) but i dont know a whole lot about the timing and i dont know what degrees would be too little or too much. if someone could help me out that would be awesome. Oh and BTW its a 4x4 3500 and i dont do much hauling other than an occasional bass boat or landscape trailer, if that might have a factor in choosing what timing to set it at. Thanks!!

Until studs get installed, you really better off not boosting anything, the HG is weak and with bolts your on Borrowed time when Bumping timing = increadsed cyl. pressure, more boost= cyl. pressure .. more fuel = more pressure ...

Its all your call, I have a leaking HG , due to all the above, if you do bump timing, keep in mind, your gonna wanna take it easy on it till your studded( Nothing is guarentee'd ) ... even studs
