5th gear. NOT THE NUT!!!!
Hey guys I'm talking to a guy about a 96 cummins. It's got a 2wd nv4500 with the 205 divorced t-case. He says he welded the nut. But it's making a noise now??! It has some upgrades to it with only 183k on the clock for 5500$
Wanna see how much extra I'm going to spend on fixing this problem |
The nut prolly broke. I have read about that a few times cause when you weld on something that has been hardend. You just made it weak.

Its because when you weld a nut thats Grade 5 , you temper it and it can becme like a grade 8, or higher ... which means it will be come brittle ( stronger is not always better )
Like when you install manifold bolts, use grade 5 bolts ... when you take them out, there too brittle to re-use ... they will break if you attempt to reuse them . |
