the tighter the tv cable the later the shifts the looser the earlier. too loose and you burn it all up though. does it flare? what speeds is it shifting not rpms. should go into OD at about 45mph. IV fluid is full synthetic and doesnt burn or smell like type F or earlier type fluids.

Here's the answer to your problem

throttle valve pressure is the opposing forse of govoner pressure. if one of the values is off you get a flair or a real late shift. because it is alowing a shift before there is enough pressure to hold the clutches or too late when way more pressure is needed and you have to rev the thing out real far to overcome the pressure. thats why it is better to have too tight of a cable vrs to late. to tight and it shifts hard and late to loose and it shifts early and very soft which is the slipping clutches/flare.
