installing fuel pressure gauge
I ordered a set of gauges including pryo, boost, and fuel pressure. The only one i am confused on is the fuel pressure. ive read on the internet about having to drill a hole and im not sure where to drill this whole if anyone has a picture it would be fantastic.

You will not have to drill a hole, but you may have to buy some more parts. There are two banjo fittings which are popular metering points, one is in the top of the fuel filter housing where the fuel line goes out to the injector pump and the other is on the injection pump itself, where that same line goes in. If your gauges are mechanical, they may have everything you need to tap in; but if they're electric, you will almost definitely need to buy a banjo bolt tapped for 1/8" NPT to screw the sensor into. Additionally, you will probably need a needle valve or a Tork Tek snubber to keep the mechanical lift pump from just sending your gauge into an epileptic seizure.

So i just need to replace a factory banjo bolt with the banjo bolt and snubbbler valve correct? (i have both the banjo and snubbler)
|
More or less. I have a needle valve on mine too, but plenty of people don't.
|
What kind of gauges did you go with? I need to grab a set when my tax return comes in.
|
I went with glowshift gauges. they have a neat little 3 in one deal that looks pretty good to me most people recoment saving my money and buying a better set such as autometer or isspro. but im a broke high school student who cant afford 200 dollars for a single gauge when i can get three for around 250. Ill tell you how they work im installing them today.
|
Awesome. That's the route I was going to take with some tax return money.
|
My Isspros didn't cost anywhere near $200 apiece.
|
oh im sorry i dint recall what brand it was but a 60 psi boost gauge was around 200 dollars and can someone please get a picture of where to hook up the snubbler valve im not having much luck and would rather be safe then sorry.

I have 3 Autometer pro guages ... yes a tad spendy but .. worth the correct information .. :c:
|
Yeah, do a quick search for glowshift and let the horror stories commence.
There's a fuel line connecting the filter housing and injection pump. IIRC (at least, the one I have) is bigger than 1/8" NPT and has to replace the banjo fitting where that line goes into the injection pump, as it's too big to go in the filter housing side. Then you can screw whatever 1/8" sensor accessories you have (or the sensor itself) into that. The more you have between the sensor and the snubber the smoother your readings will be at the gauge. |
Marshall Gauge 0 60 PSI Fuel Pressure Oil Pressure White 1 5" Diameter Liquid | eBay. This is the gauge I went with. It was almost perfect size to fit in the CIG lighter hole with a little motivation. I drilled a hole in the banjo bolt for the supply line to the pump. Drill from the inside out and tap from the outside in with 1/8npt. Works great took maybe an hour for the install

Just remember if you drill it to clean it good before reinstalling. This is after all your filters and should be only clean fuel here. That is a needle valve there just in case something went wrong and you got a leak you can shut it off and still be in businesses no matter what or where u are |
Here is mine.

https://www.dieselbombers.com/member...isolator-1.jpg You just beat me. I had to do some digging. It has been a while. Hope it helps. DD:rocking: |
I ran into a rather large problem i tried placing my banjo bolt where coors_man_2005 had his in the pictures and the bolt that i removed was larger then the 12mm banjo bolt. I did not find where diesel duo placed his. is that a different size then where i first attempted to put it?
