NV4500 bent shaft

So I've got a problem but I'll tell u the story first. I recently had my main shaft 5th gear grenade on me Which then screwed up the counter shaft 5 th gear, so I replaced um, put everything back together, went to put the driveline back in and I couldn't spin it, after trying to trouble shoot I couldn't figure it out so I tore it all back apart and it shifted fine, went to check out the t-case and it was locked up. Tore it apart and the bearing front bearing was missing about half the balls and theres metal shavings everywhere, and there was a good size chunk jammed in the roller gears which stopped it from spinning. So out of late common sense I decided to check my main shaft in the tranny and its bent, about 1/1.5 thousands of an inch, so I was wondering when I get my t-case fixed should I throw it on and run it or do you think the bearing going out in the t-case was in relation to the bent shaft or two separate issues? I don't know if that slight of a bend is acceptable to run or not? What do you guys think?
:argh:

if its bent ... replace it ... and yes the harmonics distortion and vibration will kill your T-case again ....

If it looks, quacks, and smells like a duck ... its a duck ...right ?

In this case there was a slight hint of duck sh*t but I was hoping that wasn't what I was smelling! Damn.. Thanks for the input. Btw a totally unrelated deal but I figured I'd ask on this thread instead of start a new one. How much hp increase can a guy see from adjusting his timing from say 13.5 to 16/17?

its not really about the power ... its more about adding fuel and the need to give it longer to burn ..... and if you dont already have studs ..... get them, and then have some fun bombing your truck .. i have a Blown HG .... no one told me that it could be som easily done ... insurance policy = head studs :tu: ... then you can play to around the 50 psi mark and around 500 hp ... then its gonna be spendy :s:

Something I've wanted to do for along time. Just never got around to it. But I've got head studs so good there:tu:

then go to about 18 * and you will see some gains all the way around ... you will have to adjust AFC to accomidate the new timing and such ... :c:

How much low end could you expect to lose if u went up by 4.5 degrees? And I've heard that this drastically increases engine noise?

4x4manonbroke 03-11-2014 05:39 PM

Not much if any .... I gained .... More fuel, more velocity =quicker spool ... I'm at 15.5* now and as soon as I fix HG 20* ... Possible 22* ... Will see :tu:
