tiremann9669 03-10-2014 04:37 PM

So you're sayin Cummins dosn't know how to spell thier own name :humm:

JBearSVT 03-10-2014 05:08 PM

Sounds like an entire diesel community is.

They probably all drive Pooper Strokes.

The Cummins Engine Company was founded in 1919 by Clessie Cummins. No "g", never been a "g", won't ever be a "g".

Who are these experts and where can they be found?

JBearSVT 03-10-2014 07:15 PM

There's no fine line between experts and enthusiasts. I'm jus' sayin'...

Very true. I guess my contempt and condescension got away from me; I forgot for a second it's entirely possible to be an enthusiastic retard.

My guess to why it is becoming so common is people using smart phones, not a key board. Auto-Correct may be changing Cummins to cummings.

I still correct my not so smart phone ..... :bat:

g in cummins

On android at least, you can add cummins to the dictionary, so it won't add a "g."
My iPhone doesn't add one either.

Only a retard would buy something else and make fun of a Cummins.

79jasper 03-11-2014 04:36 PM

I've heard cummins owners call them a Cummings.
Mostly older people.

saw a window sticker the other day said "i'd rather be stroken than a cummin" saw it the other way around made sense. but it was a ford driver so i felt bad his mom and dad paid all that money for his truck just so he could have other ford friends

dietz4ibanez 03-13-2014 12:33 AM

They have some funny stuff out there.

I own both A 4 letter F word and a cummins .... Don't care what they say ... its a ford ... and its will never be a duramax truck or a cummins truck even if they make them with it .. its just a ford ... But don't get me wrong .. I love my 'ol IDI ... sounds is awesome , just lakes a bit of power .. :nope:

JBearSVT 03-13-2014 04:17 PM

Seems like the argument could be put to rest with a quick google image search. Hell, a link to the Cummins website is hard to argue with.

I'm a Chrysler guy, always have been, but I'd take a '95-'97 F250 Heavy Duty with a 12 valve (provided that p.o.s. Dana 50 IFS setup was replaced with a solid 60) over a second gen Dodge any day. Say what you will about Ford, but they nailed it with everything but the powerplants in the mid-'90s.

4x4manonbroke 03-14-2014 10:21 AM

I agree totally ... The fords have super tough framework ... It was always power train. And electrical issues that have plagued the ford company ....

I agree, a 12V and a painless wiring harness would make a world of difference in my F250 ... I actually like the ride of the twin beam front end ... Wife and I have gone on multiple road trips due to the comfortable ride ...:tu:

Well let's see, the wimpy drivetrain (and lets face it, a diesel truck is it's drivetrain), sex appeal of a schoolbus, turn radius of a cruise-liner, electrical gremlins like a poltergeist, seats with all the lateral support of a sofa... they nailed it all right: granddad's truck!

I jest, I jest. I hate Ford trucks, with an unreasonable, illogical passion. I hated 2nd gen Dodges the same way until I got stuck in one for a winter.

A lot of truth is said in jest, though. You're absolutely right about the turning radius; you can't turn the damned thing around in a 10 acre field. I don't hate the way they look, but that's completely subjective. As for electrical issues, to be fair, half of the threads on the second gen Dodge sections of this forum are about wiring nightmares associated with the headlights or failing overdrive circuits. The seats aren't bad, but I'm about a buck-thirty fully dressed, and I sh** you not, I had to put my kid's pillow pet in the seat to see over the steering wheel when I had one for about 3 months. I don't think my back ever touched the seat.

I liked second gen Dodges until I owned one. The drive train is the only reason I still cling to this sh** box. First gens are a hard act to follow, either way.

Want to see my former F250? It even had the super-gay, mega-rice "Power Stroke" decal across the top of the windshield. It's like seeing a picture of yourself in middle school; you just wonder "WTF was I thinking?" :argh:

JBearSVT 03-14-2014 07:52 PM

LOL!

I'm pretty sure every American truck has wiring issues. At least the headlights are easy to solve. As for the overdrive, all I can say is: real trucks have three pedals. And if I didn't have to plow snow, I'd have a real truck... :argh:

4x4manonbroke 03-15-2014 03:51 PM

Yup ... some more than others , the whole brand thing is totally subjective to how the owner drives and works there trucks as to the need and such ... if abused the finest automobile on planit earth will be a poltergist to fix in the end ...

I want one of these ....
.... love it :tu:
