Rear drive shaft questions...

Hello every one,
I am building a club cab 2500 4x4 out of three trucks. I am going to be separating the front frame section and combining it wit a different rear section of frame to end up with the frame I need to have a club cab short bed 4x4.
I have gathered all the pieces up except a rear drive shaft. I need to get a measurement of a stock shaft for a nv4500 and dld transfer case with a dana 80 (I hope it is a one piece shaft) so I can have mine re-tubed to lengthen it or I need to find a good used shaft.
Also has anyone split a frame at the factory joint like this before? Looks pretty easy to me and I am a competent mig welder, so welding it in should be no trouble. Looks like the hardest part is splitting both frames.

I have never done it but yes it looks easy ..... I would also suggest preheating the frame prior to welding to reduce the chance of stress fracture's and cracking due to heat ....

ya might also think about doing an insert and bolting it together also .... About 2-3 feet either side of the welds ... Just as a just in case

I was thinking of bolting as well as there is quite a bit of overlap of the frame rails in this area. It sure wouldn't hurt...
