Injector choosing help
Just purchased my first diesel couple weeks 98 12 valve 5 speed extended cab 4x4 I was told truck has number 10 fuel plate 3500k springs 470 injectors but I can't find any info on them . I think he ment 370s but I wanna different set read they work but ain't worth a damn I wanna make 400-450 horse so want injector would be best bang for buck

370's are fine and will get you to where you want to be. you either have 3k or 4k governor springs. 370 marines are just a bit smokier than the correct spray pattern
a marine injector is a 155* your truck is a 145* a 370 is a 5x12 nozzle around 60lpm which is the size injector you need/want for the HP you are looking for. if they are indeed 370's leave them in there for awhile and work on some supporting mods first. |
Do they make a 470 injector , only reason I say 3500 spring is that's what the
Truck will turn up to wide open what do I need to do to get to 400-450 horse |
I had a 94 reg cab long bed that was dynoed by the previous owner in the mid 400's. I sold the truck about 7 years ago and can't remember exact hp numbers. But it had 370 injectors, 4" straight pipe, bhaf, hx 40 turbo, 191 dv's, Hamilton cam, #100 fuel plate, and timing at 25*. It smoked like a chimney until the turbo cleaned it up. It was a lot of fun to drive and I never had it in the shop. The truck I have now has more power and I think it's been in the shop more than not.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And the 94 had over 300,000 miles. The one I have now just went over 130,000 before I blew a head gasket. |
i believe there is a marine 435 which is pretty similar to a 5x14 injector

Not to steal the post but I am new to this my self and wondering what the difference between a 5 x 0.012 and a 5 x 0.012sac injector is? I'm sure it's a simple question just can't seem to find my answer anywhere.

there are different nozzle styles VCO SAC micro blind and a few others. SAC work good in these trucks.

Will going to a zero or #5 plate be any benift reaching the #s I want an , an can some one explain delivery valves
|
DV's deliver a higher volume of fuel @ pressure to injectors .... a #100 plate is the top of the heep .. Make sure you have studs before you go adding a bunch of mods otherwise you will be in the boat where I'm @ .... Blown HG leaking under the t-stat ... thankfully truck is drivable but really needs to be fixed .....
For studs you will need Milled Rocker pedistals and a good set of ARP or studs of your choice ..... Timing adds Cylinder pressure Fuel adds Cylinder pressure Boost ... obviously adds cylinder pressure Low rpm / High boost ( Lugging engine ) adds a ton of cyl pressure IF you go adding any of these in just about any order you should install studs first to retain your HG .... or blow the HG and then pay through the nose like I'm about to do when taxes come back ... Gonna run me about 450 $ to mill head and such ... then HG master set .... already have studs ... 418.00 on E-bay ... U get the point right ? |
Do u have to pull motor when installing studs
