Delivery valves

How much will delivery valves and a rack plug wake up my truck?

turbo2332 12-06-2013 06:11 PM

rack plug not so much. thats just top end fuel but bigger valves can make a very noticable difference probably 30-50hp

Turbo2332 do you think laser cut dv's would do some good for my setup? I think my stock dv's are the 191. And they say laser cut give 30cc's more fuel. Would it be worth $275 you think?

no dodge truck ever came with 191 delivery valves from the factory. and absolutely not. full cut delivery valves are NOT the way to tune a properly running truck. they over fuel awful, can cause 2nd injection process, severely intensify pressure waves back towards your injection pump. they do flow all the fuel the pump can squeeze through the line for as long as it will squeeze but are awful in just about every other aspect of making/tuning power. if you were shooting for 2000hp then sure maybe a full cut is in the recipe if not look elsewhere. if you have 191's KEEP them! i like my .024's they run about 300* warmer than a 131 on a stock truck. 022's will be a bit warmer yet but should give a little more on the dyno.

quite frankly i feel that on a stock truck a DV swap offers more bang for the buck that a larger set of injectors. going from a stock valve to any performance valve will put a smile on your face if your set-up can support it.

from smallest to largest
131 (stock 94-95)
181 (stock 96-98)
131/181 hybrid ( i forget which valve and seat get used to make the hybrid?)
191
.024's
.022's
full/laser cuts

and there are many other sizes that you can have turned on a lathe but if you are streeting your truck i would stay in the 191-.024 range.:c:

We've been very happy with the 7mm dvs!

My truck is a 97 so I have the 181's. Thanks for the clarification. So you think I should get .022's, .024's, or the 191's. I keep hearing what you said about how you can tell a big difference when changing the dv's. I'm at the point where I will but maxed out before losing drivability. Changing the dv's and maybe bigger injectors like 150's is the last on my list. May not change injectors. Just a thought.

you should do DV's then see if that helps with your goal ... then go injectors ... but I would keep you DV's you have now because with the larger injectors you may want to infact step back just a bit and the DV is a good place to start if moving your fuel plate itnt enough or if it feels like its backing down too much ... IMO of course

It is my understanding than the 024 is slightly smaller than the 191's but the 024 have better smoke control with only a loss of a few HP.

So the 12v with the 215 pump don't have 191's? :humm:

ClintD. 12-08-2013 04:50 PM

Is there a big difference between 191's and 181's?
