Exhaust

Ok so im looking at picking up a Flo Pro 5 inch exhaust, with a 4 inch down pipe. My truck still has the hx35 in it. What im getting at is the question, Will a 4 inch downpipe fit an hx35? or am i going to need to pick up a bigger turbo for the 4 inch downpipe? Id like to stick with my turbo for now but if i have to i'll pick up an hx40 or maybe an aurora

you will need a flange for the turbo I believe its 3.5" then up to 4 " down pipe .... or just look for a 5" system from diamond eye I have it on my short cab 2wd long box and I consistently get rave reviews on the sound of my truck ..... mine is straight ... the sound is stellar from every angle IMHO of course :w2:

they make down pipes for hx35's just buy the correct down pipe.

well i would just buy the correct downpipe but Its a turbo back kit so i was just kind of curious if it was a bolt on turbo back or not. I assume its built to fit the stock turbo but if not im not apposed to a little more boost :tu:

whomever you are buying the kit from should advertize if its for a stock turbo or and hx40 style down pipe.

Most kits come with stock style downpipe. But we can order our Expandit kits with the HX40 style down pipe.

Im looking at the Flo Pro turbo back kit from alligator. And when it comes to power...when should i start looking into head studs? My fuel pump is turned up and its straight piped, and other than that motor wise its pretty much stock, but if i were to get something like a bladerunner turbo, a 5 inch straight pipe, and advanced timing should i be worried about lifting my head or would that be safe without head studs? Im just curious because if im going to shell out the money i dont want to end up with problems because i didnt do studs.

If your pump is un modified then ur safe, if your timing is stock your safe..... if either are modified you can pop a HG .... I did..

I am running a stock 215 engine..887 pump 15.5* timing , ( at the time ) Plate was MIA, 3 pc DPS X manifold, 5" straight to the end.... came off the line and whooped a supercharged Tacoma and a FJ, got home smelled coolant , fixed t-stat up ... still leaking... found out it was HG that was the problem ... NOW .. its only an external leak .. but non the less its compromised ... I would suggest studs .. then have your fun .. that is my suggestion just so you don't do more harm and cost your self money in the end ... studs are not a guarantee either .. :choochoo:

Ok well ill do studs and a clutch before anything else then. because my pump is pretty well turned up. no fuel plate and my afc is turned up. Im not really worried about it the way it sits but in that case i dont want to do much more until i do studs. It seems like its just kinda pick and choose though. I have a buddy that has an aurora 3000, advanced timing (not sure how many degrees), 4k gov springs, no fuel plate, cranked afc, and a 5 inch straight pipe...maybe even something else but he didnt even lift his head. he just now did studs because i think he got more parts. but knowing my luck, some timing changes and a little bigger turbo would do me in :td: but i'll do studs next. Thanks 4x4!

you can get a 3.5 inch marmon(i think thats what it's called) to weld in place of the 4 inch one.cut the 4 inch one off at the weld and the new 3.5 inch one will slide right into the 4 inch pipe, and a v-band clamp attaches it directly to the turbine housing. the truck i did this on sounds great. 4 inch down pipe into 5 inch with 5x8 tip.
