tire size
 

im looking to buy newer tires for my cummins. I don't want to be to big like 35s since there big dollars. my tires I got on now are stock 265/75/16. I want wide tires but i want a combination of wide with tall then they don't look stupid. Wider is what i want. Need some help! :argh:

you could try 285/75/16's or some 33x12.50's but their going to probably be more expensive. metric tires are labeled according to width in mm(ex. 265), then percentage of stated width(ex. 75) this is the height, then rim size. hope this helps

I have Cooper AT/3'S and I love them to death ... handles great and look nice too ... on my 95 ram I have 265/75/16 E Ironman A/t'S .... and they are nice.. like the michellin ltx on way cheeper and just as good :tu:

i have 33/15.5/16's ATZ's on my truck currently. i dont think mickey thompson makes them anymore though. Interco's SX version still offers a 15.5 33' i believe.
i have a couple pics of them on my page. just side veiws no fron or back. the wider you go the worse it will handle. the truck follows every line on the road, had to make knuckle stops so the tires didnt get into the body @ full lock.

These are what I usually run as well, for the same reasons. Awesome, awesome all season tire. If you're a big off-roader I'm sure there's better choices, but you can't beat this tire on the street. I wish I could afford to run them all the time, but I usually get about ten months out of a set of tires (40K) and I need something fresh for winter. So right now I'm running some Mastercraft somethingorothers that are the size I like, which I picked up used for under $300 OTD. When we get our first snow, I'm putting new Cooper AT³ on for the season, and whenever they're running the bars off next summer I'll put these Mastercraps on again until next winter, etc.
Anyway, I run 285/75/16's, and like it very much. If you shop around you can get them for only a little more than the 265's, and IMO the 285 is the tire any full size 4WD should have come with. Look better, ride better, handle better, they just plain fit. I like 315's the best, but I just can't swing a set of those every year. :argh:

Damn, i have 15K on mine and my ford F250 tips the scale at over 7K unloaded ( 315/57/16's d rated )..... i have been using the tire depth guage each oil change (10K) and still 16/32 to this day ... and never had to add air either ... you must be loaded to the hilt , they come with a 50K warrenty ...:humm:... some thing wrong with your milage man... or ur just super heavy haulin ?

I have bfg a/t. They are pretty much 34x12.5. I think they are the best tires on the market. Real pricey though. First set I've had since 2001. I had some 33x12.50 back then. That set last me about 60,000 miles. Hope this set will do the same. I doubt it though the truck I had then weighed 5200 pounds vs 8000 pounds now

I'm a few hundred heavier than that, but I do do a lot of hauling. I'm sure if you drive them real easy they'd do better, but I don't. They aren't a hard tire at all, they're pretty soft- hence the nice quiet ride and sports car handling. If you work that kind of tire, it goes quick. I don't know how they can claim over 55K though, that's insane. I'm not that hard on them. It's not just me either, we have the AT³ on almost every pickup in our fleet, well over twenty trucks, and haven't gotten anywhere near that many miles with a single one of them. Been running them for a few years now, and ran the ATR's before these came out. The ATR's actually lasted a little longer, but weren't nearly as nice and I still never got even 50K out of a set.

Not even close. As I said, that's what they all should have come with.
