Check ur state and local laws regarding trucks, in the state if washington , if ur truck is under 6k no needed deq sniff test ..... ur state might require it , and if so ur gonna need a catalyst and muffler most likely

i tried looking under dmv and this was the best i could find
"Diesel-fueled vehicles are not required to participate in Pennsylvania’s emissions inspection program because the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has not yet approved, and required, an emissions inspection for diesel-fueled vehicles. Current Pennsylvania law states that the Department cannot implement more stringent requirements than mandated by the EPA." now i dont know if tht means tht i dont need a muffler.:humm: did the 1995 12v come with a catalytic converter from factory?? and i heard tht the turbo is considered a muffler |
the turbo isnt a muffler .... does work like one though ...... you will need to look up build sheet to determine weatherof not u need a catalyst .... best thing I can suggest, keep it simple ..... will u have to inspect annually ?
|
yes i believe that the inspection will be annually. One other question, if I have to get a muffler should i buy a cheap one an just cut it out, or should i get somthing nice that sounds good like MBRP for example?
Im just used to how it sounds as it is with straight pipe and dont want it to be too quiet. |
You'll be fine. PA doesn't require emissions for diesels. No requirements for any type of muffling device. The only exhaust requirement for diesels is that the exhaust must exit behind the cab.

kewl, and as far as a muffler .... I made a can .... 5" in 10" body 24" long and 5" out.. this is known as a can.... cops cant tell the difference either way . :choochoo:
|
ya thats what I thought DaveO. Is there anywhere i can find somthing that is legal saying like diesels dont need mufflers online so i can show him???
also does this so called "can" change the exhaust sound or the amount that it flows in anyway??:humm: |
