Injection pump question
Ok so Iv searched and searched but I have a 97 12v cummins, auto trans, do I have a p7100 injection pump? Or do I have a ve? So if I do have have a p7100 could I put a ve on it? Sorry guys new at cummins trucks just trying to figure this stuff out :argh:

yea if nobody has changed it it will have the p-pump. you can put a ve44 on it if you wanted to. Ive never done it but im pretty sure its not just a bolt on kinda thing...you have to get some other stuff off of the truck the ve44 is coming off of i think. But the p-pumps are better IMO. P-pumps can push alot of fuel. if you get to the point where you need more fuel youre going to be into some high numbers when it comes to power.

Ok thank you! I think mine is about to die, can you have them rebuilt anywhere?
|
The pump can be rebuilt. Some of the site sponsor's may even be a rebuilder.
There are good and bad rebuilders and they usually charge the same. I personally would do some diagnostic before going any further. Maybe the pump is bad, maybe its not. |
give seth @ dpe a call hes good at what he does.

a factory 97 will have a p pump and its better than the ve by any means ..
in 97 it would have been a 180HP pump and injectors w 131 dv's(delivery valves). should put down on rollers about 160 hp and 480tq totally bone stock @ tires |
Ok thanks guys!!

My 97 has the 215 pump.
|
As does my 96 ...but if it was an auto it should have had a 180
|
I didn't know they used the 180 with the auto good to know.
