Loss of fuel pressure

I have a 97 dodge 12 valve with 280xxx, auto tranny, 4x4, trucks starts kinda rough then clears up it will run great for a week or if you let it idle for awhile it drops to 0 fuel pressure, it sounds like it's missing, blows white smoke, stock pump, and lift pump, at idle it runs about 500rpm and 14psi of fuel, runnin 80 at 2100rpm it's pushin 30-35 psi of fuel, is it my lift pump? Fuel pump? Over flow valve? Injectors lines don't leak new 90hp injectors no leaks there, anyone else having this problem? Changed the fuel filter didnt help

Does your truck have the fuel heater?

I'm pretty sure it does

could be blocked fuel line , bad lift pump bad filter, .... gonna have to check a few things .... could also be the return valve too

changed all the filters they needed it but it still runs weird. i had a full tank now im getting down to a quater of a tank and its starting hard and if you come to a comlete stop the the fuel pressure will drop from 14 to 0 and the truck will die, someone told me that it could either over flow valve, lift pump, or fuel pump? what kind of fuel pump should i put on it, i have a lift pump its a rapter but havent had time to change it, im going to get a over flow valve because iv read and they say they go out first useally

sounds like your pick up tube in the tank has a crack in it .... at around 1/4 tank if its not pullin a lot of volume of fuel it will suck air ..... pull it a check before goiung further ... it will have you running in circles :s:

Ok will I have to take my bed off to get the pick up tube out? If it's not bad, I'm going to chnage fuel lines, lift pump and over flow valve

^^ if you plan on doing those go ahead and get about 4 feet of new rubber fuel line. there is one section between the delivery line from the tank and the pre heater, its behind the fuel filter. And up to the left of it between the IP and the head is another piece tucked in there its cheap and might as well spend 15 minutes to insure no cracks and air leaks. All the rest of the lines are hard lines and the chances of them being bad are slim unless someone has taken them off and got bent
