Won't shift out of 1st gear
I have had major electrical issues with this truck. A shorted killed the truck one night and after 2 weeks I got it back together but one issue still remains.
The short killed my pcm and a few wires which shut down everything on the dash. I replaced my pcm and and the wires and got the dash and everything to work again. Took the truck out and it still wont shift out of 1st gear like it did when the pcm failed. There is one wire I did not reconnect yet but it didnt seem like something related to the transmission. It is the the yellow wire coming from the bottom plug up the box against the firewall inside the cab behind where the clutch pedal would be except this is an auto. What are some possibilities? Bad governor pressure solenoid and switch? tps? tv cable? What are some possible reasons? 96 dodge ram 2500. 12v. built goerend trans. built motor 684hp |
sounds like it may have fried the electronics in trans ...... no spped signal or TPS might do it ????? gonna have to dig deep a I'm sure ....:humm:

I have been into this tranny once before for a loss of overdrive and new solenoids fixed it the first time. Then I lost them again so I dropped the pan a second time to find I left the accumulator loose :argh: . Fixed that problem but now this happened. I have new solenoids ordered from Borg Warner so hoping that will fix the problem. I am dropping the pan again tonight to inspect all seals, bands and accumulator. Hate waiting for parts.

any word ? :pca1:

No word as of yet. Parts from borg warner havent come in yet. Delivery was quoted before Friday and the UPS shows up on thursdays and FedEx on wednesdays. I should have the parts in and buttoned up on Friday but might not want to test drive till Saturday just to have more time to check everything over. I will keep updated

I need help real fast. My Powerstroke just ruined the throw out bearing in the clucth so now its down. I need this truck back on the road ASAP!!!!! Anyone help please!!!!

oh ... huh.. something is missing here ........ umm ... :humm:............. tps voltage ??
|
Tps have supply voltage. I had a tps delete installed so I checked resistance and continuity through the delete and I am getting power through there. There is a small short somewhere because if I keep my batteries connected overnight the truck is dead :humm: so I am wondering if this is part of my issue. Something is taking power away from either the computer or from the transmission.......
|
yeah thats gonna be an issue there .. do a draw test ... charge batts ..... un hook one batterie all together ... leads between the + and the cable ... what do you get for volts .... then start disconnecting things ... start W/ alt . then starter ... then ecm .. and I'm sure between the three you will find the culprit .... most likley friesd the stator in the ALT and its low voltage shorting out... my guess :humm:

Actually when the truck is running the alternator is charging over the 14v. Not a lot b over but it is charging above normal
