Putting a 12 valve in my 65 Impala.

So I just picked up the Impala that my grandfather bought new back in 65. With much debate over what to do with it my friends have convinced me to put a Cummins 12v into it. We decided on the 12v because it's mainly just a mechanical motor with very little wiring. They had also said that with a turn of a screw on the 12v you can majorly increase the power (I have not found any information to back up that claim personally). It's gonna be a fun but big project and I'm looking forward to it. I will probably be coming here a lot in the near future with questions. To end I just kinda want to hear some what you guys think, or any suggestions you may have.

I'm gonna stay tuned on this thread. This is one thing I wanna see. Hell it maybe better than the Cummstang. Then again, I doubt it... :pca1::c::rocking:

there's a old school buick riviera on competition diesel, 24vriviera this would have the ability to be cooler than that. I am an Impala guy however.

I would only be worried about the weight of the engine ..... realizing thet the 12V weighs prob 300 pounds more that a 396 ...( maybe more) ... gonna have to built to suite that weight .... and what makes you want to put a 12v in an impalla ? why not an older chev pick up .... drop a bad ass 383 in the impalla and have a nice driver ...IMO of course .......... :pca1:

x2 the weight is an issue, but the impala is a big car should be able to take advantage of all the torque.

good luck getting the front of that impala to hold that weight a big block 454 or 396 complete from carb to pan (depending on year) weights 600-650 pounds, a complete long block 12 valve weights in right around 1050 pounds, thats upwards of an additonal 400 pounds which is the weight of a small block chevy engine, putting a 12 valve in it will be like putting the weight of 2 big block or 3 small blocks under the hood. i cant even steer you in the right dirction for supporting that much weight.

This guy could probably help you Ryan Mad Man Crams 12V Cummins Diesel Into '68 Corvette I have spoken to him on the phone before, very nice guy. He has been running the cummins powered corvette for a few years now.

There's a guy on here who put one in his Ranchero too, might want to drop him a pm if you can find him.
