no low end power
Bought truck with no plate. Did the common afc mods and threw a #100 in. Wasn't impressed. I took it back out and now the truck is not getting as much fuel as before. No smoke at all is how I can tell. I thought no plate ment more low end fuel. Star wheel is all the way loose now to see what's the deal. Still nothing.

maybe smoke screw .... :humm: .... ummm timing ? what all have you done for mods ?

Thought I had my sig. Set up but I guess not. Stage 2 ddp injectors, 16.5*, afc mods the smoke screw is all the way backed out, stiffer spring, 4 inch, 3k, boost elbow, etc all the basic. Ran fine right before I yanked the plate

did you re-attach the hose to the AFC housing? if you remove that or it creates a leak like a crack the AFC foot will restrict fuel as it thinks it is in a low/no boost situation. there should be some sort of an o-ring that acts as a compression fitting to the housing and the tube will go to the intake plenum OR over to the turbo and attach to the line that the wastegate is also connected to.

The hose is fine. I moved the afc housing forward up all the way. It helped with the power but still not getting the fuel it was before I put the plate in

I bet the governor arm is getting hung under the leading edge of the plate. that will cause this problem too. there is a procedure around here somewhere that will show the proper way to adjust the arm, as it has to be adjusted, for the arm to work properly, when a plate is moved from the factory position.

12V Cummins Governor Lever Adjustment
just in case you haven't figured this out, I am 99.9% sure this will cure your problem. |
Not really since I'm plate less
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- Thanks though |
redundant question ....... have you checked your valve adjustments ? ....

No and how plz

Does it go compleatly threw the rpm range? My heater grid got stuck on and melted the sm, hose that goes from the intake to the afc, I could go 23mph max! So if you can rev out in gear, just low on power I think that is not the issue. But I do think the arm is not traveling on the plate correctly, or stuck! I stumbled across a VERY helpful utube video explaining in detail everything about the bosh p7100! Surch for something along the lines of "how does a p7100 work" I'm sure you can find it! If I remember correctly there is 2 screws on the back, fire wall side of the pump, with the afc off turn the screws one or the other and it raises or lowers the arm ware it touches the plate. That's all I've got 4 u
