Few problems

Hey guys, I have a 94 cummins auto trans and a few problems I have been having are when starting first starting after it has sat for a while it just turns over. I have to let it turn over a few times, stop then let it turn over again for it to start. It has the grid heater delete but it doesn't get cold enough out here to need one? Because it will also do this in the middle of the day when it's 80+ degrees outside? Can you think of a reason why it would do this? I have tried replacing the starter with a new one but still does the same thing.

Another problem is transmission seems like it doesn't want to shift out of first gear until I have driven down the road for a while, also won't shift out of third unless I ease my foot off of the gas. Makes a loud clunking noise when shifting into park or drive so I waS thinking of maybe doing a tranny flush and changing the transmission filter?

Sorry for the long essay but any help would be muchly appreciated, and as this is my first rig if you could dumb it down as much as you could that would be awesome :tttt:

Thanks again.

Check the plunger in the fuel solenoid .... that's what's keeping it from starting ...... trans ... I would do a fluid exchange and then go home and drop pan and do a filter and band adjustment ...... both bands are 70 inch pounds .... front one back off 3 turns and the one in the pan back off two turns ...... this should fix that as a possibility .... if not post more and will go from there

What should I be looking for with the plunger? Is it supposed to be doing something that it might not be that's keeping it from starting?

As far as I know when trying to get out of first gear it will top at out around 15mph then just the rpms will climb but won't increase in speed? Then it seems to warm up or finally shifts after about 30- 45 seconds.
