need egts lower help!!!!
Ok so here is the deal my 96 has a #6 plate, timing advanced 16.5, 5" straight pipe exhaust, gauges. When im cruising around my egts are a constant 1200 amd if I get on it it goes to like 1800 way too high. Also my boost stock turbo is too high maxes out at like 43lbs and smokes horribly. I wanna get this thing right I want very little smoke, more power, and lower egts...please help I fivure I need to tune my afc alot

Need to turn the star wheel back twards engine ..... and slide that plate back a bit.... I think you have a clogged radiator or cac ...... this will impede air flow through the cac and cause higher egts ...... check ur condenser as well ..... this will halp a binch if all the fins are straight and not clogged up ..... do u have large injectors ?

I have stock injectors and I just flushed the coolong system...I know my afc is off and needs to be tuned but im not sure the proper way to get it right

bad gauge. the bottom number is way out of kelter. 1800 WOT with a stock turbo and say 5x14's is believable, hard to fathom though with stockers. a #6 is a great plate, you dont have the fuel to get you that hot. gauge gauge gauge!

Their is no way your hitting 1800* you would have blown something and your truck would be over heating.. 4x4manonbroke needs to learn how to spell lol kinda hard understanding what your are saying. But if your intercooler is clogged it can lean to hotter EGTS but it will not make your truck run 1200 degrees constant. What kind of gauge do you have and where is it placed?

I have a brand new autometer gauge and the prob is pre turbo. I blow way too much smoke it feels like a dog also. I know the afc hasnt been tuned after the fuel plate install.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- And let me rephrase it constantly sits between 800-1000 but just barely hitting the pedal it climbs fast over 1200 and if im wot its like 1800 |
list of whats done to the truck and what has been done recently. some back ground on the problem ect ect. loosen the star wheel. move the wheel to the fire wall side of the afc and see if things clear up a bit. this wont effect temps much but will clear up a bit of off idle smoke. if thats didnt do much move the AFC housing all the way back to the firewall. running like a dog??? @43 lbs through the little turbo? it wont have any top end but should pull very well through mid range. possible timing issue?

ok got timing at 16.5, 5' straight pipe, aftermarket air filter, new overflow valve, #6 fuel plate. now i just messed with the afc tuning it and now something is messed up because i got the smoke down but egts are still kinda high and it has absolutly no power the boost maxes out at 25 psi and shifts through gears quickly and is just a dog. Im so lost and getting fed up. just wanna get it right but it doesnt seem like this truck has a right spot.

bring it to the house. where you located? any white smoke? when did you do timing?

I have a 215 hp engine .. #887 pump.... stock injectors and turbo ... with out fuel plate I can peg my pyro out in a big hurry and not belt out a ton of smoke ....
dosent need to have big injectors in it to have this issue ..... when you load up a cylinder with fuel and you dont have enough Volume of air ( much different than psi ) .. anything over 35 psi is just a bunch of hot air anyways.. and is a waste of energy. is my spelling better now ? not on my phone ..LOL :rocking: |
