Looking at 97 Single Cab - Opinions?

I have formed my opinion already I just like to hear it from other people as well. I am looking at a 97 Single Cab (picture attached) with 156,000 miles. This is the exact description from the ad:

"I have a 1997 dodge 2500 cummins with 156,000 miles it has a farm boys 5in exhaust straight piped has a bigger turbo the pump and star wheel are turned up also the fuel plate is out brand new tires with 3rd gen wheels the whole inside has been redone except the dash its cracked but i have a new dash for it, it runs strong has 100hp injectors its a good truck just looking for something different"

I have no clue if its auto or manual, seems like that should be in the ad :argh: but thats not a deal breaker. I'll go look at it today the guy is asking $9500 and I'm definitely not there so we'll see what we can do. Based on what is here what would yall offer? It's hard to figure the value of these trucks, according to KBB its 5500 :humm:

Looks like a nice truck but (just my 2cents) I would offer no higher than 7000

Don't like the fact that the fuel plate has been pulled...

but all in all is a nice truck..

IMO, the fact that he has a plow frame on the truck puts up a red flag for me. Plowing does a number on trucks, and all of that extra weight on these truck's already weak front ends is asking for trouble.

The mirrors are flipped up it's gotta be worth 95 :w2:

I agree about the plow frame. I would bring a floor jack and check that frontend really well. I plow with my 96 and go threw a set of ball joints and wheel bearings once a year and I've replaced numerous steering components. What is with everybody yanking there fuel plates anyway? I have #100 in mine with a fully tweaked and peaked afc and it goes much better than my buddys with a pulled plate

sounds like a good truck but have to be very careful buying a truck that pumped up
