Would you buy this 2nd gen cummins?

This cummins will be a donor truck for my 1996 Cummins F150 swap. This cummins has 440,000 miles on it and a 5 speed trans, the guy said it runs really good and it has a new clutch in it. Would this be a good buy? it is under 3 grand. This truck will be a daily after it is done, but I'm in highschool and won't be putting a ton of miles on it or really going hard on this truck. Thanks!:jump:

i was able to get a short block cummins 12v with 180,000 miles for 800bucks 440,000 is a bit high but i bet the guy is right it is still a strong engine how hard are you going to pump it up:humm:

Either way its a good foundation to start from .... worst case scenario at some point dow n the road u will lan how to do a top end and maybe do a in frame. ... their not a had engine to go through ... just make sure you keep a perfectionist state of kind and it will out last you .... lol

The better part over that donor truck is the fact that comes with a 5 speed one less expensive part to buy.And I honestly wouldn't let the mileage scare you. The livestock vet in my area has a 94 with almost 900, 000 on it last time I saw it and he's never touched any of the engine components except he had the pump rebuilt at 700, 000. Needless to say if they've been taken care of they will go forever

I would be perfectly fine if I have to rebuild the engine and trans in 15,000 miles. I'm in high school and this will be my first car. I'll be doing the same amount of driving as my friend and he only puts 5,000 on a year. So if I have to rebuild it 3 years from now I'll be happy to do so lol. I'm doing this swap for fun with a few buddies of mine, my neighbor has a 1996 (I think) Dodge Cummins and every time I hear him go by, that sound just makes me want one so bad lol. He has a 4 or 5 inch straight pipe which is so loud!

yeah I have a 5" straight ... its nice but the 50 keeps watching me closly ..LOL :choochoo:
