Help! Auto to NV 4500 swap question

I began my 5spd swap a couple days ago and ran into an issue and need help. I collected all of my parts over the last 6 months, had a transmission rebuilt, had my DLD switched to a DHD and tore my automatic out along with the pedals, linkage, ect as well as cut a big hole in my floor. Everything was going smooth until i went to install the transmission. I got it up into place, was able to turn my input shaft to align the clutch nice and it slid right in.....almost. The bellhousing was still about 3/4 to 1 in from seating up to the mounting plate on the back of the motor. No matter how i shook, tilted or pushed it would not slide in. I put in some slightly longer bolts and tried to gently pull the transmission toward the motor, but it would not budge. I'm positive im not hanging up on the floor or anyhting like that and there is nothing between the bellhousing and motor. I pulled the transmission back off and bolted up just the bellhousing to the block and same result. The bellhousing hits the clutch fork and throwout bearing which hits the pressure plate and there is still a large gap. Can this be right? Have I installed the clutch fork wrong or something. I dont have a camera or i would post a picture. Any help would be appreciated. Truck is a 1994, tranny is a 2001, clutch is stock, flywheel is stock I believe but am not positive, it looks like all the others i have seen:argh:

Found problem. For anyones interest, there is a second kind of motor adaptor plate that is a low profile. make sure you dont buy that one by mistake

thats amazing. When i converted my auto to a late model NV5600, i used the same adapter plate.
