95 12v 319k miles. Worth getting?

I'm considering looking at a 95 12v I found on Craigslist. It's a 2500, regular cab, longbox, 5 speed, 4x4. The ad says it runs good but I'm concerned about the amount of miles it has on it. It's got 319k miles. I know it depends on how it was used and taken care of. He wants $4000 for it, which is close to the value if my Explorer so I thought I'd see if he'd be willing to trade. Just wondering if it would even be worth looking at. What y'all think?

all depends on whats done and how it was maintained. either way its gotta be better than an exploder:humm:

My Explorer has been very reliable, but not being a truck and being a gasser, it has let me down a few times haha. My last dodge I owned(96 1500 w/ 150k miles) was the biggest headache I've ever had and so that's why I'm asking if this truck is even worth looking at.

It probably is worth at least checking out. 300k is still relatively low for a cummins. Most likely the body and drivetrain may have a few issues but other than that it could be worthwhile

Yeah, Im not worried about the motor as much as i am the rest if the truck. It could always be used as a donor truck for a Fummins conversion down the road.

i would definatly take a look at it. check out the front end really good. if its been takin care of thats still a good solid truck. the farm vet in my town has a 94 12v with a service body, last time he came here there was 780,000 or so miles on the odometer. hes been threw about 5 sloshbox automatics tho haha

Thanks for the insight guys but the guy wasn't interested in trading :dang: so I guess I'll just keep looking around.

if you like spending money then.... yes!!!:jump: I paid 4750 for my 98 with 335K in DEC 2012and its broke down more than it drives and every :argh: dang thing you need to buy is expensive.

hydraulic clutch assem. 150
fuel pump. 100
injectors 600
clutch 400
oil change 60
air filter 30
fuel filter 35
radiator 160
miscellaneous gaskets and parts for repairs 400

And that is just OEM type parts. Don't even consider the Stealership ppftshaw. And You'll most certainly get out of hand in a hurry with the aftermarket performance alternatives in the race to ironclad your truck and get the DODGE out of it. JUst add a zero on all the prices I gave you and you'll be close:hellox:

I still like having it but it is certainly not the bullit proof machine that you think you are buying.

I've had a dodge of this vintage and I know all too well about how much parts cost for them. That's why I didn't just jump on a $4000 ctd.
