Yeah, sounds like it could be a TPS issue. There are a couple of options as far as purchasing the sensor. Around $150 IIRC. You could try cleaning and adjust it, instructions are here about half way down the page:
Dodge diesel maintenance tips Or, you could get a TPS delete kit, which I did. They make kits, or you can build one yourself with a linear taper potentiometer. Here's where I got mine from: 1st/2nd Generation Dodge TPS Delete Kit *91.5-98 12v* [DNR] - $42.00 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce |
so the tps delete kit you mention, is it a pain to install and has it worked out pretty well for you? and for anyone who comes across this thread what are your thoughts?
|
It was really easy to install. I drilled a hole in the trim around the instrument cluster, ran the wires through the firewall. The wires come with pins on the end, but not a connector, so you just insert the pins in the ecu side of the harness matching up the colors indicated in the instructions and just heat shrink it. I've been running it for about a year now and haven't had a single issue with it. :tu:
