I figured out that it basically HAD to be the gauge cluster, as the problem became intermittent depending on ambient temp... Sometimes it "worked" but read double like stated, and most of the time it didn't read anything.... On a 950 mi. Trip. The truck logged only ~300... Sorry if its not helpful, but I would bet my money on the gauge is bad inside... But couldn't rationalize replacement as everything else works, even fuel level!

yeah im having the same exact issue, all other guages working changed out both sensors and speedo is still off. ill have to swap clusters with a buddy and verify that is the problem before i order one

its the electric motor behind the dang speedo ... just did this in a few trucks ..... major PITA .... :argh: :dang:

Thanks for the info, is the item in question behind the speedo serviceable/replaceable? Or is it simply a "new cluster needed" type of repair? (I still haven't fixed it...)
Is it a motor? Or actuator? Or magnetic thingie(<~~~lack of tech term)? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
