A few questions about increased hp/tq cummins

Hi, so i'm lookin to increase the hp and torque of a 5.9 12valve cummins. I'm looking to get around 450 hp so what i have planned is to get a:

#100 fuel plate
boost elbow
5x12s
4k gsk + 60lb springs
62/65/12 turbo
191s
16* timing
4 inch exhaust
amsoil nanofiber filter
ats intake
head studs
I would of course tune my afc and move the fuel plate forward.

I am just wondering if these upgrades would get me to around 450 hp (i'm not sure how much torque it would give me) I'm not looking to make big smoke, just higher hp and torque.
I was also wondering if it is worth getting a fluidampr, also i was wondering if i would have to get a stronger tranny and and clutch than the nv4500?and if so does anyone have any recommendations?
Also does anyone have any recommendations or tips for my mods? am i missing anything important?

This is for a cummins swap into my 1984 chevy k20, thanks

Sorry I think i may have posted this in the wrong section

First off, you got it in the right spot.
second, is your killer dowel pin dealt with? If not, i'd do that before anything else.
third, yes all those mods should get you near 400 hp.
fourth, is your tranny an auto or manual, if manual, i'd recomend a heavier duty clutch, because the stock clutch would only handle that much power for a short time.:tu:

...and if it's an auto, gut it. :w2:

WhiskeyJack 03-14-2013 05:58 PM

Hahaha, its a standard. I much prefer standard over auto, especially for these trucks. and I havent taken care of the dowel pin yet, but when i do i'll put a clip over it in attempt to prevent it from ever coming out on its own. Also, thanks guys for the replies. I will probably keep the nv4500 and just get a upgraded clutch rated for around 500hp

you will be very close to your goal, with the exception of a fuel system. without one you will be well south of your goal. that is the only thing i would add. and dont start the auto hatin stuff. LOL the nv4500 will be perfectly fine put you a good single disk in there and be done.

Lol, i wont hate on the autos :tu: And thanks for the reply turbo 2332! Do you have a recommendation on what i can do for my fuel system? A better pump, lift pump stuff?

Yes upgrade your LP to an AirDog or FASS to keep your pump fed. I am running a very similar setup to what you want and i have the clutch listed in my sig and it holds the power great even towing. Once my wife stops complaining about all of the money i just spent on the truck I am going to be buying a BD super B special for mine. Probably gonna pick up some 5x14's to run with it too.

dont get the big tubes you get no hp or any sort of power with all you will get is an annoying lope idle i had the 87's and they say the 91's are worse and gauges before anything!!!!:jump:

I think he is talking about DV's not Inj lines and you probably had .83's

turbo2332 03-14-2013 11:22 PM

i run a raptor 150 and can say nothing bad about it so far (bout 10k in) with your power levels just eliminate your stock lift pump and use your stock fuel filter. you will have no issues at all. all you are really going for at this low of a hp# is consistent pressure not really volume at this point, so the neck down at the filter housing wont be any kind of issue. i made my block off plate but a chevy block off plate at your local auto parts store will cover the hole in the block when you remove your stock lift pump.

WhiskeyJack 03-15-2013 12:00 PM

Thanks for the replies guys! I might look to see if Bosch has any lift pumps i can use and maybe the right spray pattern 370s aha, cause I can probably get a discount from them.

unless i should get 5x14s instead. I am a little undecided, I don't know a whole lot about how big of a difference it would make.

@Al31031, yeah sry i meant the dv's, also I know to get guages :tttt:

turbo2332 03-15-2013 01:22 PM

5x14's are twice the size of stock, and you can get them in marine they are 435's

WhiskeyJack 03-15-2013 02:10 PM

Thanks Turbo2332! Would the 5x14s make much of a difference than the 5x12s with this set up? also if i were to use the 5x14s would i need more air? sorry for the questions, I'm a little green.

ricet07 03-15-2013 03:07 PM

More air, you are going to be choking that turbo pretty good specially with a 12cm housing and 65mm turbine wheel

turbo2332 03-15-2013 06:17 PM

i run a very similar turbo 62.65/13 and run sdx 5x12's i am very happy with the turbo they compliment each other very well. in the future i may try a 71mm wheel with this truck at which time i would upgrade to 5x14's.

WhiskeyJack 03-17-2013 09:48 AM

Alright, awesome! i think this is everthing i needed to know. Thanks again everyone for your help :c:

Al31031 03-17-2013 01:19 PM

ya ricet07 i ment to say i had the 93's and the 120's are really lopey i did have a set of the ddp laser cut comp dv's and they actually helped out i felt a difference with those + the tubes unfortunately acquired a lope though
