1997 12v In park loud clicking noise.

Hi guys I'm new here and skipped the intro thread, I have a 1997 3500 12valve only performance done to the truck is cold air K&N, #5 fuel plate and star wheel is cranked. Im working on gauge but I dont hotrod. Recently I went out of town to plow snow and during the trip I got out and hear my truck doing a loud repetative clicking noise when in park. It also does it while driving. At first I believed it was a manifold leak but the sound is alot louder on the driverside under the hood that the passanger side. Im not low on oil checked it the other day and I have heard about the KDP aka the killer dowel pin in the 5.9's. I was wondering if anyone else has had the issue or may be able to troubleshoot the noise. I can give further info if needed. Its coming from down low between the block and the wheel well and I just put a new starter in 4 days ago.( not sure if that may be it wor why)

did you begin to hear it after you put in the new starter?

I'd be suspect of the new starter, possiblt the bendix isn't releasing all the way :humm: Or the lift pump is gettin ready to crap :c:

Taps and clicks i usually look at fuel lines and lift pump first.

Yup, I'm starting to think the lift pump is on its way out to.

No i didnt hear it just after the new starter was in and you cannot hear it at all when the truck is cold but after it has warmed up and been driven for a while you can really hear it

Does the truck blow a lot of or any black smoke by chance? Number 5 plate and "cranked star wheel" WITHOUT GAUGES kind of bothers me....especially when plowing snow which will load up the truck and could cause excess heat. Hate to cry out "melted piston", but I've been there done that...just something to consider.
