Annoying headlight issue
My headlights decided they were sick of life and quit working the other day. Well my headlights switch was already junk and running off of a toggle switch so I replaced the whole unit today and hoped it would fix it... Nope definitely not, I still have no headlights.. But I have parking lights and cargo lights and whatnot, just no main headlights.. Is there a common problem point or anything I should check? I'm not too wire savvy so by all means talk to me like I'm an idiot..

Did you take a look at any fuses?

How did you test the relay? Did you try putting a known good relay in its place?
|
Check the relays like daveO said using a new relay. Also you can follow wiring and check for melted fuseable link. If your park lights worked before (also run off headlight switch) I'd say you may have forgot a ground somewhere. Most important part of any auto wiring isn't 12v power, it's a good ground. I had a similar issue and it was grounds from headlights to front fender/rad support

i checked the relay by replacing it, put a new switch on and everything.. if i pull the high beam lever they will flash but i cant turn the low beams on. which makes me think that I am having a wire issue somewhere but honestly I have no idea where to look

Will your high beams stay on? Did you take a look at the bulbs, possible they just burnt out? Where at in PA are you?
