KDP tab bolt important question

While re installing my kdp retaining tab bolt I used some red loctite 262 and I'm now feeling like an idiot and worrying if I should have used something different?? Should I change it ASAP?

You should be good. What did the instructions say from your KDP kit?

DerekP129 02-18-2013 02:42 PM

I never had a kit, I ordered a fel pro gasket kit and made my own tab but I have read so many repair threads online that each say to use a different loctite. Thank you for the fast reply though I sure hope I didn't do the wrong thing

H.R.D 02-18-2013 02:51 PM

What type of loctite do they say to use and why?

I really don't see how it could hurt it. The bolt threads into the cast iron block. I might be worried if it were aluminum.

No worries my friend, I used red loctite in mine, as did afew of my buddies. You should have no problems at all.

Red will come off if you ever need to repair it, i know they say permanent but unless you weld it will come off when the time is needed.

Don't worry its fine I use blue on any bolt in that front cover but red should be OK considering torque is only 18ft lbs
