fuel plate removal question
If my fuel plate is removed how much psi should i be running in and before lock up? and should it smoke alot?
|
you a little abstract with your question?
you should run a fuel plate it is a tuning device. UTILIZE IT! stock boost is around 17-19 a boost elbow will get you in the 30psi range pretty easy with stock fueling lock-up is when the torque converter locks up 3rd and OD via the TPS or manually controlled with a switch. |
the fuel plate was removed by previous owner, this is my first diesel i dont know anything about them..when i got it two weeks ago the wastegate was/is unhooked and the fuel plate is in the glovebox and the turbo silencer is also removed..my buddy is into diesel and he told me that with the wastegate and fuel plate out i should be smoking alot more then what i already am, and should be hitting 50-60psi in lock up..im around 25psi before lock up and 40psi in lock up...

well your buddy doesnt sound educated either. never run a small turbo without a wastegate. you are asking for a popped headgasket. smoke isnt power. its a waste of potential. run your stock turbo in the 30-35psi range and it will last a long time. grind your factory fuel plate to a 100 profile or purchase an aftermarket plate.50-60psi out of a stocker = a bunch of broken stuff. i hit 52lbs back in the day. turbo was upgraded the next week. no sence in risking thousands. psi will fall of considerably going into lock-up.
welcome to the sight, hope you learn and enjoy the addiction |
thanks for the info, i wasnt asking like " o i want my truck to smoke and hit high psi" i didnt know if something was wrong or whatever....again thanks for the info tomorrow im going to hook the wastegate back up and put the fuel plate back and and see how it goes..
