94 cummins wont start

i put fuel in the filter and primed it after it started once for like 5 seconds blew white and black smoke then died

Have access to a fuel pressure gauge? I think your lift pump is gone.

no how much are they? also yesterday it would die if i hit the gas fast and let off idk if that would make a difference

They range from high to low, just depends on what you want to spend. You may be able to find one fairly cheap from a local parts house. To me it sounds like you are not getting sufficient fuel to your IP or you have a large amount of air getting in the fuel lines. Another possibility could be the fuel shutoff solenoid.

isnt the fuel shutoff solenoid suppose to come up when the key is in the run position? and how do i check whats working and whats not in the fuel system?

Only as the starter is cranking, from what I see...

Its not the fuel shutoff solenoid it lifted when i cranked it any other suggestions?

How do i check it without a pressure gauge i dont really have the money right now to spend on that when it isnt needed

Without a gauge I don't really know, I am sure there is a way but I don't know how to on a 12v.
