cold start beliefs

So i have been doing some research and some people say its bad to just let your truck idle up to warm temp. I figured it was good but they said just need oil into the turbo so just baby it until it warms up something to do with not getting fuel i guess to the fuel pump not sure. What are your guys input. And it is a 12v if theres a difference.

Ok so i came to the conclusion i need to someway and somehow get a high idle switch in this thing are just use the classic seat to pedal stick and keep it at about 700-800 rpms. But now i know to do this on the first start up and while long sitting and maybe sleeping in truck how about in bumper to bumper traffic do i need to worry and keep trying to keep the idle up are no. Also is this mainly for cold weather starts are at all time.

In the cold at idle the cylinders don't build up enough heat to completly burn all the fuel, then the fuel washes down the cylinder walls. High idle is good :tu:

ah so really a concern in the cold but eather way if sleeping in truck high idle is still required in the summer sorry guys i am a newb just trying to do it right. And im thinking of using a carb high idle solinoid with a 12v wire to switch.

High idle solenoid is a good idea. I just start it, run it at about 900rpm for about a minute and go. Never had a problem. Just baby it till it's warmed up, that's what I do (although i live in the middle of bfe where there are no stops and nobody carse if i putt down the road at 25-30...)
