i got a 12 valve auto single wheel base... need some help on how to make it roll coal....

build your transmission.... grind a plate.... tune your afc... advance timing... a lot can be done...

what is your goal, what is the truck used for, how much power are you thinking.. ??

or are you just being a 'tard and wanting just black smoke... ? then just put a plasting bag on your air filter...

i know i am going to get hulled out over this.... but yea i just wanna roll some coal when u turn the star wheel do u turn it left or right? and i aint puttin no trash bag over my air filter lol...

Just do it right, grind or cut your fuel plate to a #0, slide it back or forward for more or less power, tune your AFC correctly and you will have a powerful truck that rolls coal without everyone just laughing at you for being stupid...

Don't forget, if you overfuel your truck (hence the black smoke) without gauges, you are likely going to end up cooking your motor with EGTs !

But if you really want to roll coal, seriously... put a trash bag on your air filter... no air and too much fuel = black smoke...

You could also retard your timing to 10°, and for more smoke fill your fuel tank with waste motor oil...

It might jsut be me but I have never had anyone laugh at me for rolling some coal!

if you want smoke you might as well make it powerful smoke. do some tuning and a plate but that alone is probably enough to ruin your tranny if its a stock auto. all depends on if you want to take off from an intersection coughing smoke like a coal train, or if you want to take of rollin posi with smoke flyin.

Just trying to educate. You build for smoke and nothing else your going to have problems. That smoke gets HOT. And worry about that automatic before throwing any power to it. Priorities my friend. Just dont want anybody going around messing up their truck. Now if u dont care about hitting 1500 degrees for 10 minutes then you can build for smoke if u want. Its all fun and games til they start trying to put emissions equipment on older diesels like RAWilliams said.

Clouds of black smoke may not be as bad as gasolines emissions, but ours is visible.

Hey newb first off dont come in here acting like you owb the place,remember you came to us for guidance.go to cummins forum and ask them how to make it im sure theyll help. Seriously like everyonea said build for power and smoke will come as a by product.

hey guys sorry i jumped the gun thats my bad... i slide the fuel plate and got some gauges and i cranked the star wheel and no lie i can feel a little more power im over black smoke i just want power now... i am thinking about a shift kit for this junky ass auto trans i got what yall think??

I really shouldn't help you, because people like you ruin a serious passion of mine which is modding diesels not for smoke but power. In fact I get mad when mine smokes excessively because that means the tuning is not optimal. However, since you can't seem to use the search functions and I guess I am feeling generous tonight I will help you out.

okay... that helps... i just ordered a #0 fuel plate when i install it do i have to adjust anything or just drop it in and go with it

we prefer better language here also

Drop the fuel plate in, set it to center for your tranny's sake until you build it...

then tune your AFC, i think the low end torque is the thing that's killing trannies though...
