Pretty good deal, if you dont mind taking care of those minor issues. I would have bought it for the price.

gyayo2012 10-16-2012 12:10 PM

yeah well come to find out its not the gasket its the oil pan it self!! just dont know how hard it is to replace iv heard people say you have to pull the motor is that true??

1999stroker 10-16-2012 12:12 PM

Why can't I find this crap???!!!!! That was a good deal!! Pretty sure an oil pan needs to be done with the motor out. The floor isn't a huge deal. Can be done with a drill, a bit of hardware, a ratchet set, and a few hours. The oil pan is something you should probably hire done unless you have the tools. Post more pics and if ya can start a thread on rebuilding that bed. Good luck to ya!

Bigg Redd 10-16-2012 04:02 PM

What exactly is the issue with the oil pan. where's it leaking?

gyayo2012 10-16-2012 04:35 PM

its rotted threw rite under the cross member, when you fire the truck you can see it seeping threw, was thinking about trying to throw some goop over it to get by for now. but there is a bunch of other spots that dont look to healthy either, so parts are cheep around $250 from genos garage.. ive been reading up on it and i guess some people get away with undoing both motor mounts and raising the engine up a few inches so i think im goin to try it out see how it works! If i pull the motor im doin a full rebuild and the funds just arent there right now so im just goin to fix the problem before i create a project!

Stole it for 4 :c:

Oooph, thats the worse case scenario there. I thought it was something minor that could be brazed or welded. Moving the engine up off the mounts looks like a logical attempt.

I ordered the parts from genos garage soo as soon as they comin ill get to gettin on it let ya'll know how it turns out! was also thinking of maybe throwing a coat or two of undercoating or some rhino liner on the pan b4 i install it just to keeo it new for that much longer..

Don't know if those materials would hold up to the heat, several coats of paint would be my choice, light colors help you to spot an oil leak in the future. :c:

There is a product called lizard skin that is often used as bedliner or heat insulation in cars and trucks that has a high heat resistance that comes with a dye you can add to make it just about any color. That is something that you can probably put on the new one.

well i went to do the oil pan today and have come to find out the reason why it has not been replaced is because im guessing the previous owner had tried and he actually stiped the majority of the bolts round!! so there is no way of taking the pan off.. so for now im going to try jb welding the rotten spots if that dosent work im goin to put a diff motor in it.. i have a 96 sittin around so.. we'll see how the patch work goes!! i have become numb with people half ass ghetto rigs!:scare2::s:

ricet07 11-01-2012 07:18 PM

Did you pull the motor to do the pan? I would get some small rod and tack a small piece on the head of the bolts so you an break them loose. Little time consuming but better than replacing the whole motor or cobbling up some jb on there.

gyayo2012 11-01-2012 07:35 PM

no motor is still in the truck i have a new pan and gasket was going to undo mounts and jack the motor up! i really dont have to much time to mess with it right now they are talkin about a noreaster cummin up some time next week so the only real choice i have at this point is swap out the motor and run. or lay on the jb weld.. fig id throw some goop on to see if it hold if not them im stuck swapping it out... just dont know if its going to hold is there a lot of presure in the pan or not really.. last thing i want to do is blow my motor in a blizard because the pan leaked out!!!

wrecker 11-01-2012 08:10 PM

You seriously got that truck for a steal...I can never find anything like that around here.

tiremann9669 11-01-2012 11:12 PM

Just weld nuts on the rounded bolts, the heat from welding will loosen the rust, thats how we get broken exhaust manifold bolts off. :c:

Bigg Redd 11-01-2012 11:13 PM

How about getting one of those stripped bolt remover tools (Cant place the name of it:humm:). Seen it on speed channel comercial. Or a good set of vicegrips and a torch to heat the bolts.
:argh:Damn, still cant remember that tool.......

MECHANIC 11-01-2012 11:20 PM

Unbolt motor mounts and you cann lift it up enough to get pan off... don't need to pull......

gyayo2012 11-02-2012 09:25 AM

well the only reason im debating on pullin it is because i have one ready to go right now.. and acording to the weather people ( that are usualy wrong about everything anyways) we are suposto be getting a BIG blizard. and this is my money making truck!! so if im out the first storm im not gonna be getting a call for the rest of them either you know!! i already have the motor mounts out and motor jacked up plenty of room to move around down there but i cant get the damn bolts out literaly only 5 bolts came out all the other are as round as a ball!! its just amazing how someone would not only stip 1 0r 2 but just to keep going the turd must have thought the gasket was leaking and tryed slammin all the bolts tight and striped them out!! mean while its only pin holes!!.. in goin to try some jb weld really just need something to hold me off until i have more time to mess with it.. i have the new pan and gasket ready to go just cant do nothing with it yet:s:
