do i have a oil pressure problem?

Ok so before I put anymore money and performance work in this truck id like to know If my oil pressure is ok... All my buddys with Cummins their trucks hot or cold they run at 40 lbs mayyyybe just a little bit lower.mine only sees 40 when i first start it then when its warm down to like 20 sometimes a little lower and their trucks when there driving they stay at about 40 mine is still at about 20 highway and city driving . The oil pressure switch is new I just put it in when I baught the truck BC it leaked. So what do you guys think?

The pump pick-up may be obstructed by some silicone sealant used on the oil pan at some point, either previous owner or from factory. After the shutting the engine down the pump stops sucking and the silicone falls away, when started again oil pressure reads the 40 like you say.....until the pump picks up the blob of silicone. I have seen this in one of my gas engines -not a big deal if you can drop the pan while still in the truck, and also a cheap fix.

I'm not sure if its possible, I've never investigated that far. I would definitely gather some more opinions before attempting to pull the engine just to drop the pan.

Just google it. Most of the time it's the sender. I'm going to replace mine in the near future.
