Turbo Not working will I do damage towing/ driving

1995 One Ton , all stock except exhaust and fixed kdp . Turbo currently not working .
Have an emergency and need to go to Bakersfield from LA . There's a grinding pass here called Gorman , I think the elevation goes up to 4000 feet . Can I pull a 21 ' "Tailgator" without doing any damage to anything ? I would really drive like Grandma the whole way . I am even thinking of swinging way around and taking the 101 to avoid the grade . Don't know if the turbo not working puts an extra stain on the tranny or how it may influence the engine . If doeable will go at night , early morning to avoid as much heat as possible . Thanks in advance for any help ! Just got my Diesel , love it , and don't want to hurt it .

:humm: How do you know the turbo is not working? You are asking for major trouble driving with no turbo. You will get too much fuel for the amount of air into the engine, causing way too much heat. :s:

Thanks Dallas Flywheels !

I was thinking it would be something like you mentioned . I am am just assuming at this point the turbo is not working because I can't hear it spool . I just took off the filter however and I can see the turbine spinning while engine is running . I will now be installing a boost gauge . Engine runs , idles , drives on freeway great , just no power from dead stop . I always drive like a Grandma anyway . If I get on it a little it will perk up , but still can't hear any spooling .

Tune your afc and bump the timing up. They are not meant to be monster in stock form.
The below PDFs will help you in these free mods.:c:

BHAF and 4" or bigger exhaust will make a big difference also :c:

hehe, mine wouldnt spool until 2000+rpm when it was 100% stock... in the first 3 gears...

If it's not rolling coal i say you're safe...

does the intake have excessive oil sludge in it?

get your gauges on before you tune it... it's safer... and getting a EGT probe plugged up would be a good idea now...
