Am I daydreaming for looking for 20-25 mpg?
I wouldn't really wonder about the miles, these Cummins' will make it for a million miles with ease...
Fix the KDP, get a decent fuel plate, tune your AFC and build your transmission and you will make another million miles without a worry...
Only thing i have to complain about in these trucks is that they are prone to rust...
If the chassis is fine, steering parts are renewed or 100% and transmission has been built (i prefer just the NV4500, but a built auto would do just as fine) these trucks will last forever...
Does anyone know what the highest milage is on a 12valve 2nd gen ?
I know there was a 1gen with 4 million something miles somewhere down in Texas...
One owner, looks as it was new...

The Cummins factory in Columbus Indiana, send Dodge up to 700 6BT engines per DAY.
A whole bunch of Engineers mock the fact that Dodge are installing this engine in a pickup truck as it was designed for a duty cycle of 60-80% and could go for a 100% duty cycle for more than 1 hour with ease. This engine in a pickup truck doing normal load in highway / city usage will not even reach a load factor of 20%. In the past, Dodge used to compare internals of the Cummins vs NaviStar, Detroit 6.5 and the Duramax 6.6 as they have much smaller internals. This was even used as a marketing trick in Iceland.
Cummins engines will without a doubt outlive their trucks in every normal situation, my Cummins has got it's beatings and it still runs strong although now it has a faulty water pump...
My truck is listed in my signature (you probably have to look at my first post in this thread) and the chassis is screwed, wich is why i'm swapping into a 1500 Gasser...
That way i get a lot of cool features, like a lighter truck and short bed... but i will never EVER cope with my truck being a 5.9 gasser... so it get's a Cummins transplant...
I love my Cummins !!!

Not sure if that's right... BUT...
I do see a big difference in using the BLUE fuel here (OFF-ROAD, EQUIPMENT FUEL) or even the RED fuel (NAVAL, SHIPS AND SEA)... both in means of power and consumption...
The ON-ROAD non dyed oil will give me the best consumption, the BLUE is similar but will consume more and EGTs will be higher...
But this RED stuff we're supposed to use on the boats is "Radioactive" to say the least !!!

I have a 98 12v 4x4, I run 33" Mickey T's and mine is mildly done mods wise around 400hp's and I get 22 to 26 mpg and I commute with it everyday. In the winter it's less, but still pretty good non the less. And mine has 565000 kms (354000 miles) doesn't burn oil, and runs like charm.
When I was looking for mine, mileage wasn't an issue. If you look at the truck, you can tell that it was taken car of. that's why I bought mine. will never own a truck that hasn't a cummins in it.

I even thought about getting a 2wd but I'm towing my boat and I will be going down slick ramps and whatnot. So 4wd is kind of a must. But in the winter I won't be towing her at all and in the summer-fall-spring I tow it 3-4x a mo. at least. And the closest boat ramp is 50 miles away. So the majority of the time this is going to be my DD rig hence why I'm so concerned about MPG. I'm just going to start looking for my rig. I'm going to look all over the country(I don't mind flying out to go pick her up if I find EXACTLY what I'm looking for).I'm for a ex-cab LB 2500 4x4 12v with around 100k miles BONE STOCK and NO LIFT and NO 5th wheel preferably
