diablo sport extreme power puck????

Hey everyone i have a 2007 classic LBZ with 5"mbrp strait pipe, airbox mod with K&N drop in filter, and the PPE standard on the 90hp setting (60whp). i do not want to turn my PPE up to the 160hp (112whp) setting becasue that is the next step up and is not the best idea for a stock tranny and cp3. So my question is has any one used the power puck on there LBZ with good results?. im not out ot buy it and crank it all the way up, as you can see i am wanting to stack this with the ppe standard on 90hp(60whp) setting, maybe only adding 25 to 30 more hp nothing major just a little more safe hp, that is all i am NOT going to max it out ever unless i invest in a cp3 and tranny. and information like pros/cons about it would be helpful. or some one who has a reason they stand against it please let me know why!

thanks for the help :tu:

I say no to stacking, you dont know what either unit is doing for fueling, injection timing, etc.

If it were me, and I wanted more power I would get a transgo Jr. installed and run the 160hp tune on the PPE, that way you only have one tune thats doing everything, I hate the idea of mixing power adders:tu:

Transgo Jr Kit and a Triple Disc Converter will make a BIG difference.

-see i do agree with you and saying probably better off running the 160hp tune but i do not want to spend the money on the transgo Jr. and i hear you have to drop the tranny to install it :argh:

-and the thing is this extreme power puck would be nice to have in the future after a tranny and cp3 would be installed. this power puck is basically a dial like dsp5 but turns in a complete 360 stopping at the bottom (mid point being strait up or 50hp) because all the way truned is 100whp. the reason i would like this is because i can add another 25whp to my 90hp (60whp) tune so im only at 85whp not all the way up to 112whp (in ppes 160hp tune). from my knowledge this power puck installs to the fuel pressure regulator and the map??? or something like that so the father the switch is turned the more the map and fuel is changed. And this is nice bacause it can be done on the fly!!!

-as i have said i would not even use, manily just daily drive on the 90 hp ppe setting and when i want another 25whp, just turn it up a little and ruturn it back to the zero setting or resting point. as i have said before im not stupid and know there are limits and would never even pass much more then 25whp, and this would be very uncommon for this to even happen.

-if there is anything you know about the extreme power puck that i havent said please let me know thanks "britewhiteram" you have helped me before

what would it run me fro transgo jr. and a triple disk converter run me to buy them and install.

The transgo jr. from Merchant is $100
http://www.merchant-automotive.com/a...rshiftkit.aspx

and you don't have to drop the trans to install it, just have to pull the valve body and drill a couple holes bigger

If you want that power on the fly sell your PPE and save the cash you would spend on the Powerpuck and buy EFI live with a DSP5, I HATE stacks... HATE!! they aren't needed when you have better technology available!

thanks britewhiteram i know you have helped me before on other questions i had before.

my question is what does that transgo jr. do? why is it better then what i have now and does it really help? And also how long would it take a guy and his buddy to install... Im only 19 but i am mechanicaly in tune if thats how i should describe it :tu:
Also does this require me to drop the tranny pan? do i need to replace the gasket? i will prob fill her up with amsoil.. if im able to.

the transgo just helps to sharpen shifts, it helps to hold a little more power than stock, you could run probably a 425-450rwhp tune with the transgo jr.

You do have to drop the pan, and im not sure on the gasket, sorry, but it should be easy enough for you and your friend to do, as long as you keep everything clean, and follow the instructions

Allison's recommended fluid is Transynd, I would use that before amsoil:tu:

Duramax07 09-15-2011 09:29 PM

alright your not a strong believer in amsoil?... and i think i have decided to go with efi live as we have talked about before i can get it for dirt cheap from a friend. :tu:

BriteWhiteRam 09-17-2011 08:46 AM

I'm just saying that Allison's top recommended synthetic oil for the A1000 is Transynd, its extremely high quality oil:hellox:

DirtynessMaximus 10-25-2011 07:10 PM

transgo jr puts more pressure on the torque converter, which gets you better shifts.

Duramax07 10-25-2011 09:08 PM

yeah well just for everyones information my allison wont hold the 90 hp tune without tow haul and when in towhaul it holds it about 90% of the time so i decided i bought a LBZ with a weak allison. it is back to stock now because this tranny has to last me 2 more years and i hope it holds!!!! (but after i did change the fuel filter it helped allot suprisingly, but not enough unfortunatly)

NOTE: and when i say hold the 90hp i mean at WOT not just daily driving because it was fine under daily driving just when i was getting into WOT

BriteWhiteRam 10-29-2011 11:16 AM

try changing your transmission oil and transmission spin on filter:tu:

Duramax07 10-30-2011 08:20 PM

do you really think that will do this trick? because i am getting horrible MPG (calculated long hand) without the chip in and my EGR light is really pissing me off.... is there any way to look at my tranny fluid and tell if its due for a change? its still got a nice red color to it. and is there any good signs of a tranny going bad on these 6 speeds? :argh:

BriteWhiteRam 11-02-2011 10:46 PM

shift flares are usually a sign, and a lot of debris on the magnet on the spin on filter is probably not too good either

Allison recommends changing the fluid every so often depending on the fluid you use, if you use Transynd the change intervals double

Duramax07 11-03-2011 08:00 AM

shift flares... as in before everyshift it will almost rev freely and then grab the next gear? and i have only had the truck for not even 4000 miles and i know all the workk that has been done on it is from a dealer. i did swap the oil to synthetic and from the "looks" and smell of the tranny fluid it seams fine with no dark colors or burnt smell. maybe it would just be a good idea for me to get some tranny fluid and a filter and have it flushed? do you have anything against amsoil? reason being i filled the engine oil with some amsoil and wouldnt mind doing it for the tranny also. will amzoil have double the change intervals like transynd? or is transynd my best bet

BriteWhiteRam 11-06-2011 01:20 PM

yep thats a shift flare
As for fluid I dont know anything about the amsoil transmission fluid, thats the problem, its not tested by allison to be approved for their transmissions, Transynd is what allison sells itself and recommends for a syn

Amsoil may or may not be the same, I just can't say because I don't know

Shift flares are a sign of weak clutches, you should probably start saving for a trans rebuild soon, the allison is trying to keep itself from being hurt

I'm really no expert on this kind of stuff:td:

Duramax07 11-06-2011 08:00 PM

from my understanding my truck does not have flaring shifts.. i wish i could take a video from my droid pro phone and post the video on here some how to show how it shifts but i dont really know how to go about that.

BriteWhiteRam 11-06-2011 09:17 PM

if you have a youtube account you should be able to upload directly to youtube from your android

Duramax07 11-07-2011 12:16 PM

i believe i do have one :tu:. not sure how to go about doing that though :humm:
