Well when i bought the truck i didnt get the towin mirrors. and i do a good amount of towin and havin the mirrors would be a big help. But would the factory towin mirrors fit if the truck came with the regular mirrors??

If these are from the company then yea, my grandmother lol put these on her truck for the gooseneck

2500HeavyDuty 06-25-2009 09:37 PM

you would have to get the towing mirrors form the classic body style, not th new ones, they wont fit.

'06-'07 classic like those are plug and play. Great mirrors too :U: I put them on my '05 in exchange for those power extending mirrors. Huge difference. You'll like them. :5:

I ordered them from GMPartsdirect.com Put both mirrors on in less than 1 hr. Just plug and play. It takes longer to get the door panel off to make the plugs on the bottom of the window controller.
When you do change them, I suggest that you check the bolts twice before putting the tools up.:U:

2500HeavyDuty 06-27-2009 12:16 PM

its easier if you roll the windows down too lol

Bail001 06-28-2009 11:02 AM

how much of a difference is the towing mirrors then regular mirrors

2500HeavyDuty 06-28-2009 01:24 PM

a world of difference

Rttoys 06-29-2009 03:58 PM

:iws: Huge difference. blind spots are gone and if you tow a big travel trailer, you can see all the way from the top of the trailer down to the tires. :U:

X2! I could not spot small cars that were flanking me when I had the old extendable mirrors. Nearly ran right over one. Highly recommend them!

HeavyChevyDMAX 06-30-2009 09:26 PM

yea when i was towin last time i had to keep shufflin around to check the mirrors every 2 mins. pain in the :moon:. great thanks for the help guys

jlawles2 07-01-2009 06:01 AM

Worlds of difference. Since I have been driving the truck for 5 years with the other ones, it is taking a while to reprogram my mind for the new mirrors. I can see from the top of the cab to the bottom of the rear wheels without doing the driver seat dance, just one quick glance.

"its easier if you roll the windows down too" Oops forgot to write that in.:tttt: It also helps to have a second set of hands to hold on to the mirrors while putting the top nut back on.:c:

i got mine off of ebay, they plugged right in. if yu find some off a 06 and up truck your going to have to splice some wired to make them work

Bail001 08-09-2009 05:23 PM

ok sweet so any mirrors from an newer truck will fit or does that not work

HeavyChevyDMAX 08-11-2009 07:52 PM

its mirrors are powered except for the bug eye right? and on my truck, the stock mirrors i got on it now dont have the turn signal on em, and these towing mirrors im ordering now have the turn signals, will it work if the stock mirrors didnt have the signals on em??

2500HeavyDuty 08-11-2009 10:49 PM

I tow a lot as well and decided to go with power extending/heated mirrors from an '05 GMC on my '06 Chev LBZ. The mirrors were a direct bolt on, I paid $300 for the set from a used parts place in east Tenn. My original mirrors were the power folding ones. I took the truck to the dealer and had the BCM reprogrammed to the power extending so that all the features would work, cost $75 and work great. Good luck.

Yeah, that's why I hate them. That sh-- never works. oooh, power extending, plus GM charges $1000/mirror. I can extend my own damn mirrors!

On my truck only the right one has extended for the longest time. So...what do I do? Get out and manually extend that sh-- anyways!!! :argh:

I saw the same mirrors that I got on E-bay but from E-bay they were about $40 more expensive. Went online to gmpartsdirect.com and typed in the numbers 5904035 and 15904034. Completely plug and play on the 04.5 When I pulled the door panel, the mirror plugged into the electric controller and even the blinkers worked...:U:
