More flow less noise exhaust question
I just ordered the AFE cold air intake for my D-Max and was wanting to help flow on the other end (exhaust) but really don't like a loud diesel sound. Is there any way to get better exhaust flow without making it too much louder. I understand a little sound increase for better flow, just looking for the quieter option.

Diamond Eye makes a "quiet tone" front(down) pipe, which will add more sound muffling without sacrificing flow

yes the quiet tone i have sold with good results. :tu:

Can I fit that diamond eye downpipe onto my stock exhaust? Will it offer me a reasonable increase in exhaust flow?

the down pipe is made to work with an aftermarket 4" system, it wont work with the stock 3.5" exhaust, and if you did put it in the stock system somehow it would make no difference, the restriction in flow of the stock system mainly comes from the catalytic converter and muffler
this downpipe used in conjunction with an aftermarket system with a muffler will be slightly louder than stock but much quieter than if you dont have the quiet tone downpipe hope that helps:tu: |
Thinkin about just a muffler and leave the stock tubing.

most 4" exhausts are not overly obnoxious, you can also turn the muffler backwards to help quiet it up some... the Catalytic converter blocks up the exhaust pretty good too:s:

I cut the muffler and the cat off mine. Didn't make it louder but couldn't really tell if it helped performance wise. Can hear the turbo a lil more

Yes I'm serious and no I'm not deaf. Just gutted the cat and cut the muffler off. Just gave it more of a jet engine noise. Sounds great but ain't very loud. Nowhere near as loud as my 97 or 05 cummins was
