Fuel Mileage we all need more of it
I can get 20 to 23 MPG, but like power I want more.

the most I have been able to acheive is 22mpg, that was cruise set on 60mph and over a long distance, if you want better mileage than your getting trade up to a TDI jetta :pca1:

I get about 20 mpg cruising at 70 mph in my Dodge, which is around 500HP. My jetta gets 48 mpg at the same speed now that I've added the 17" VR6 rims, it got 54 mpg with the 15" rims. I can out run anything in the Dodge, the Jetta I've seen turtles with better acceleration. :argh:

Stock or smallish tires, minimal weight and drive it like there's an egg between your foot and the gas pedal. A good EFI live tune might help, but you already get better gas mileage than I ever have...

when it comes to diesels, more is shockingly more. upgrade your fuel system to deliver more fuel, get efi live and map your ecm to handle more fuel and air, add a extra turbo, better air delivery (intercooler, intake, intake manifold, intercooler tubes) if you are willing to go the distance and drop the money you can get 30+ mpg throw a propane kit in there and you can see numbers in the 40's

not a fantasy as far as i know. ill have to look up the artical and post it but these engines can be made to run numbers like that. its going to cost a ton of cash to do it but i suppose if you are a long tim owner, it will pay off down the road. but for reals white, its totaly possible.

His 36.55-mpg figure backed up his earlier tests, and he was Second in fuel economy only to Matt Handwork's 45.58-mpg CNG machine." <------matt has a prophane kit THIS CAME FROM : http://www.dieselpowermag.com/diesel...nge/index.html All im saying is, it can be done, and yes prophane just replacing one fuel for another, but national average cost for a gallon of propane is $2.83 right now, where as diesel fuel is averaged at $3.98 a gallon. lets say you have a 20 gallon tank (i do so thats what i'm using). you never run completely empty so lets say you put 18 gallons of diesel in your tank every time you fill up. thats $71.60 a fill. i average about 20 MPG HWY and 16 City. so ill say i avg 18 total. thats 324 miles per 18 gallons of fuel. now lets say i have a 10 gallon prophane system, and i run it dry every time i use it. so its $28.30 to fill it on top of my $71.60 for diesel for a grand total of $99.90 a fill. But with my prophane kit i am running (rough estimate) 40mpg (which is doible), that would give me 720 per fill up. It would cost me $157.52 to get the same range with just my fuel tank vs a propane system and fuel. thats a $57.62 difference. prophane system costs roughly $850.00 so it would pay for itself after 15 fill ups. |
Put a AD 2 165 on it, a good mileage tune from efi live, block off the egr, and air intake and see what you go from there. And is this millage hand calculated? Or off the overhead that is usally off
