egr blocker plate,air inlet,etc

I am new here and found this site by accident. It is impressive.I have an 05 LLY with 4in turbo back exhaust,Afe air kit, and a Superchips programmar. I am going to get rid of the Schips and change. I am not wanting to build a race truck, just a daily driver with an attitude with my budget. I read here where I need to block the egr, change the mouthpiece, and reroute the pcv. My question is why reroute the pcv? Is it necessary when doing the other mentioned changes? Also what is the "fingerstick" that was mentioned in one of the replies? I bought mine new in 05 and never have heard about this mouthpiece problem until now. I subscribed to Diesel Power in 05 also.

Would someone help me out here please so I can understand all this.

Thank you.

the mouthpiece is only a part fix to the problem of the LLY overheating

the PCV re-route is to keep the oily residue out of your intake, intercooler and compressor side of your turbocharger, with the EGR block plate it also helps to keep the soot from the EGR and the oil from the PCV from forming a thick tar like substance that can build up in the intake to your heads, it makes a heck of a mess especially once you run a smokey tuner

The fingerstick is used to eliminate the codes that the EGR block plate will cause, you can use EFI live to eliminate the codes without using the fingerstick:c:

egr block pcv reroute etc

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense to me. Where can I get the block plate and what is the best reroute procedure? I don't want it to look like something that is thrown together.
Will any other tuner/programmer remove this code? I noticed alot of different over the counter programmer/tuners have been mentioned. What about the Bank's products? I saw a video comparing some of the "better" ones. I know everything does not work the same on all trucks so I was just wondering about their products.

I wont give banks my money, mainly because I cant afford it for the results that it gives... over priced and underpowered, aside from that banks wont allow for any emissions removal

As far as I know, there are no other programmers that can eliminate the EGR codes..

as for where to get them? post up in the Supporting Vendors section, they should be able to hook you up

any other questions never hesitate to ask

PPE xcellerator or Diablosport predator would be my "canned" choices for tuners

OTHER SIDE OF THE COIN!, I like banks when it comes to hard parts. Their intercooler, intake with scoop, and monitoring system are good products. Yes they are pretty expencive, but i like the products and the quality. Their tuner is not one to go with if you want big power. Like said above, EFI LIVE, and other tuners will perform better. Dont buy banks exhaust, you can do better else where. Basically with most of thier parts other than the ones mentioned above, you can do better else where. once again i would buy their intercooler and intake with scoop, and monitoring sys. But nothing else.

Sinister Diesel makes a great EGR blocker kit, which is fairly cheap ($120ish) Sinister Diesel also makes a PCV re-route kit, but if you want to save some cash you can get the same parts at home depot for about 1/2 the price. search google, there are some great home made step by step kits.

If you want a pro look to your PCV re-route, you can also buy after market nipples (yeah i said it) to put at the PCV ports on your eng. These allow you to run the re-route over the side of the eng rather than having the PCV cluster FUNK on top of the eng. if you just want to throw it together, get a T fitting at home depot, some hose, and some hose clamps. connect up to your current PCV and then run the hose over the side of the eng into a catch can. (unless you want to have oil on the bottem of you truck) :rocking:

an EGR block plate is $12..... why would you spend $120??

As for the banks superscoop... sure it probably works in ideal conditions, but if you live where there are dusty roads or snow, or if you hit puddles your gona run into troubles :tttt:

I just refuse to buy into the advertizing BS! what kind of company attacks other companies products outright in their ads?? kind of seems to me like old gale buddy likes to stroke his own ego...

Sparco and AFE make aftermarket intercoolers as well, and the edge insight CTS is just as good as the banks monitor:rocking:

you wouldn't worry about puddles if you ever seen a scoop ;)

The banks intecooler does have some minor defects, for some reason it does not like anything over 55 psi, but the other brand and stock ones will hold up well. I dont like their tuners cause they don't give me enough power, and id rather tune my own truck with efi live. PPE can do egr delete and they are a good hand held tuner, but there are many ther great ones out there too it just depends on what your are looking for.

the EGR blocker plate is really cheap, and it can be a pain in the butt to install but i can knock one out in 20 minutes with some help.

the pcv reroute is easy to so like bright white ram said very cheap to do.

you have many options available, it just depends on which route you want to take
