Blown Turbo
I just had my turbo explode.:madd: I have the banks 6gun with pda and put it to level 6 for the first time in months. I took off with a touch of boost and when it all kicked in i heard a pop and all power dropped. Blue smoke poured out of the exhaust and i pulled over and shut it all down. Was towed to the dealer and they looked at the turbo, you could shake the impeller up and down a half inch or so. All the oil was going right into the exhaust and the turbo was junk. New one on the way.
---AutoMerged DoublePost--- forgot to say that it says that i hit 29psi of boost and 1275 degrees in just the few seconds i was on it. Normally it only hits 26 or 27 max. It also came up with a variable vane controller code. |
wow , the dealer covered it with a banks box on it?
time to upgrade :)
Yep yep...an HTT Promax would be a nice addition. :up2:
just get a 5k and or gt45 and be done with it :D
i already have 121,000 miles so i am past dealer coverage. I am staying with stock, sorry guys, i use the truck for to much hauling and driving daily and don't want to pop the motor next or tranny.
anyone using a turbo timer to cool down? I am looking to put one in that ties into my egt probe, and suggestions?? |
if you buy a auto start alarm it comes with one you just have to have it programed for it
