Built Tranny Tuning on Stock Tranny

When I get my EFI Live I was thinking of getting tunes built for a built tranny, but only running on an 80hp tune till I can afford a built tranny. I would probly spend the extra cash to get the option of picking my tunes so I can set it up that I have a max effort stock turbo tune as #5. Has anybody done this? Anybody have any reason for not doing this? Just trying to save some cash in the long run. Oh, this is also assuming that I'm responsible enough to not use the higher tunes till the tranny can handle it. Fire away... :tu:

Do you have the additional upgrades to support the tuning, that's the point of efi live is to tune to your truck and use its full potential, I would need more info about your set up. You can get far more than 80 hp and still be stay tranny safe.

So far its stock. I will probly have it paid of late winter/early spring and will be doing efi live, 5 inch exhaust and egr blocker plate to start. Then a airdog 2 lift pump. What brands do you recommend for the tuning and exhaust. As well as additional upgrades and size of lift pump. Its a blank canvas, paint away :c:

If tuning is your starting point, I would tune for your truck and utilize its potential. once you have the autocal or V2 additional tunes are relatively inexpensive, as far as exhuast for the money I like MBRP and the airdog 2 is a great lift pump size it according to the future upgrades you intend to do, dual CP3? Injectors? Turbo'(s)
For my duramax tuning I only sell one and only recommend one its PPEi, autocal or V2 tuning. For the duramax I would definitely go with the DSP5 also
Feel free to PM me with any questions bro I would be glad to help:td:

What if I asked you magnaflow or mbrp? heard some good things bout magnaflow for these trucks.

My preference would still be MBRP, nothing against magnaflow just a preference. I think the quality is a little better with MBRP. I carry both. Performance and sound will be virtually identical

Ok thanks for your input on the exhaust. I just want to back track a couple posts... The reason I was thinking of this in the first place was because I was thinking of going with a pretuned ecm.

Why an ECM vs autocal or v2?

12vRambo 10-10-2012 08:44 PM

Good question. :s: What's the pro's con's and price difference?

Tyler@TWX 10-10-2012 09:01 PM

Convenience, you can change the tuning on an autocal or V2 very easily and know nothing about tuning. Via email tunes or direct tuning, for someone just starting a build I would suggest going remote as I said for convenience and relatively inexpensive upgrades. Difference in an autocal and v2 is the 2vin licenses. I will pm u with some pricing if you would like
