I did a install on my 98 12v about a month ago using a FASS 150/90-1010 @ 45psi and love it.After seeing how bad my factory fuel lines were, and any replacements having been discontinued by Ma Mopar long ago for the Second Generation trucks,it was the easiest repair. We made a fitting to go into where the factory draw straw was and I used the FASS draw tube as the return line which sent the fuel back deeper into the tank thus lowering the foaming action(this we do with even our drag car when we bypass fuel, return into the bottom instead of dropping into the top). When I did the job I didn't like the blue push lok hose(looks tacky under my red truck) so before we did the job I ordered some red push lok from Parker and used it instead.
We ran mine right into the P-Pump eliminating all the factory fuel system parts and it was amazing at how much it cleaned up that side of the motor. The fatory lift pump area on my 12v was blocked off with a chromed fuel pump cover plate for a Big Block Chevy.I have left the wiring down there for the fuel heater in case as if I need to I can reroute the return feul tot he tank throught it to allow for warming of fuel if needed.I do not feel out here thats going to be a problem which is why I left it out completely. The FASS was one of the best modifications I have done and I am amazed at how much smoother and quieter the truck runs with it.The added pressure help keep my built P-Pump happy which in turn keep a steady supply for those often needed bursts of power.I have not seen any power increase with it on the dyno runs after the install, however,I have seen now that I have the fuel to run into the upper limits of my new P-Pump,where before it would lean out and lay down.I have now learned that the one problem I was seeing on the dyno fuel related(the engine laying down above 2700 rpms) and now have realized I need waaaaaaayyyyyyy more air and a new charger is needed. I know these pumps seem like alot of money when one is presented with a fuel pump, fuel pump supply or fueling issue, but, trucst me when I say they are well worth the money and you will not go wrong with the purchase.....Andy |
