Door Panel Removal and Speaker Install
4 Attachment(s)
I know that this write up wont be a technical as putting twins in or installing larger sticks... But... Deal with it! :tttt:
I decided that the stock speakers in my truck SUCK!!! They would cackle and pop at anything above 3/4 volume and being that I'm 23... I like load music! Well the solution to my problem came when while digging threw my shed I found an old set of 6x9's that came out of an old truck... I knew they couldn't fit... Could they? Why yes... yes the could... So out came the tools! You will need a 10mm socket with an extension, a phillips head scew driver. Some wire and misc electrical conectors and a way of stripping wire. Also don't forget the :c: Obviously you need to start by removing the door panel. To do this the door handle must come off first. It is held on by a 10mm nut that is kinda hard to see at first... ask me how I know... lol Attachment 60723 Next there are four screws that hold the panel on. One behind the door handle, another up by the A-pillar, and two more down underneath. Attachment 60724 Attachment 60725 Attachment 60726 |

After the screws are removed you lift straight up on the panel... it should pop right off! Be careful though there are wires hooked to the window and lock switches that have to be removed...
Attachment 60718 All this should expose the speaker... Time for a :c: Attachment 60719 Un screw the four screws holding the speaker on and slowly pull it out. Again there will be a wiring harness holding it back. Attachment 60720 Once the speaker is unhooked and removed from the door you will see a spacer ring that is attached to it. This just needs to be popped off and transferred over to the new speaker. Mine didn't snap on to the new speaker but once you put the screws back in it will be sandwiched in and won’t go anywhere. Attachment 60721 After that is done you will need to cut the end off the wiring harness and hook it to your speaker by what ever means you like.. I chose heat shrink butt connectors... Attachment 60722 Finally reinstall the speaker with the screws and follow the removal directions in reverse to put the panel back on then kick back with another :c: and enjoy your new tunes!!! |

Thanks... Like I said I know it's not real crazy hard... But I've seen a few people asking questions about door panel removal.

Nicely done. :c: I might be getting some new speakers this weekend. One question, do the back door panels come off exactly the same?
