I have a little cobra. I don't know the model, it's rubbed off from being in so many vehicles.
It's over 20 years old now.
On it's third magnetic mount antenna. -

I used to have a Cobra something or other... I think I need to get a new one in this truck, I like the idea of the whole radio in the mic, then a box under the dash it connects to with the antenna and everything, I think its the Model 75 from Cobra... it just looks clean IMO. Then I always liked the Firestik with the Fender Mount. -

i have a Uniden 68 something... i'll have to get the exact model number..... peaked and tuned (38 watts) w/a connex board and talkback.... then it feeds a Galaxy 225 linear (sp) amp and the antenna i use is a home made one my local CB guy makes and sells across the US he calls it the GR-5000 but i think them big guys rename it when he sells it to them. i've talked to a friend for 15-20 miles before and he had a very similar setup to mine. -

does a bull horn make someone loud and obnoxious?...

you have to get the CB tuned for running a linear or you'll burn it up.... i have a switch on mine that knocks it from 38 watts dead key to 4 watts. it makes the signal alot cleaner coming out of the amp as it's not trying to over modulate the signal..... now don't get me wrong it'll reach out and touch someone when it's on high and the amp is on high..... it'll accually over-ride fm radio's in cars beside me in front and behind.... i love keying it up and saying "hey" and then watching people look around wandering if it was God or something..... -

I've got an old cobra 25 and a 3' firestick. I can talk about 50' haha. I usually only use it when "convoy'ing" anyway.

I've been thinking about getting an amatuer HAM license, and rigging up some of that in the truck. -

bought it used from a guy i work with. stop in any truck stop that has a CB shop and talk to the dudes that work there. sometimes you can find some used stuff they either fixed or took in on trade or people put up on consignment. most times you can get a real good deal there and if you can get in good with the CB guy he can order you a 10 meter amp (the ones that require you to have a HAM liscense) and sell it to you and not require the liscense.... -
