i buy all my stuff at a local cb shop, i will ask him. -

Galaxy or Connex is the only way to go. I've got an old Galaxy 33 in my pickup with a RoadKing mic. If you want to be heard, thats the way to go -

Same set-up here. Galaxy33HML with HOT finals (55 watts) and a Road King mic.
You don't need to spend big money on a radio. Just get a good radio with a good antenna (don't be cheap on the ant.) and some good quality coax and make sure you get the SWR set and you should be able to talk for miles.
A good peak and tune job on a radio is always a good idea too. -

Ok, here you go. If you wanna get it all in one, here's what you buy and you'll spend about the same amount of money. It's a Galaxy 98VHP, it's a newer radio and has about 200W built into it. That way, all you have to do is buy a good antenna, make sure it's grounded good and start blowin people's windows out when you key up. Try radioactiveradios.com, this guy Mr. Radioactive builds some badas* radios. -

he built my radio. good guy. not a bull****ter, he'll tell you straight up if the radio is worth the money or not. he even rags on his own stuff.

i run a mini magnum with a astatic 636 and wilson 1000 roof mount. not much compared to say a connex 4300-300 and a predator 10k but it talks pretty good where i play. plus its wee small and hard to spot so it doesnt get stolen, unlike my antenna. on #4 of those. -

I got a Cobra something or other. I'm not sure of the model, my trucker buddy gave it to me. I run it to a 3' fiberglass mirror mounted antennae, and went ahead and mounted a "dummy" antennae on the other mirror, just because it looks cool. I can talk for a couple miles with this setup. Helps hauling fast to rodeos, especially in Illinois where speed limit for a horse trailer is 55 MPH. Just ask the Southbound what he left. -

That Uniden is a real nice looking unit. Looks compact too. Is it just the pic or is it like 3 inches deep? -
