Default going diesel again need help

Been a while since I've been on here, and I'm probably posting in the wrong place. But I'm finally getting another diesel and trading in my gasser. I'm looking at a 2009 gmc 2500, a 2011 ram 2500, and a 2012 chevy 3500. I wanted to see if anybody can give me an idea of what kind of fuel mileage these three can get and which might tow better. 70% of my driving is empty so I want some decent fuel mileage. Going by what their dashes read the GMC avg's 16, RAM 15mpg and Chevy 18.2mpg. I know you can't take what they say for gospel so if you have any experience with any of these trucks let me know your opinions. Thanks.

New gms get terrible gas mileage usually, my friends 07.5 chevy 3500 got 10.4 mpg. Dodge usually always gets good gas mileage, also if I was you is do dpf delete and erg delete if they haven't already.

One more thing to consider. Open the hood and you can`t even see the ground, now won`t that thing be fun to work on?
Just something to consider with a V-8-great engines, but...........................................
