I dont think so - tires on the rear are same as the front.

My concern obviously is that this may be dangerous on the highway. -

yeah the bands separate on the sidewalls, those dont look like anything serious you'll be fine.

you should of seen some of tires we put on trade in trailers at the trucking company i worked for in high school, we had to turn off the radio in the shop so we could listen for the bands to start poppin...fun. Had one go off at 85 psi that will make you pucker up let me tell ya -

Are talking about little rib like bumps on the side wall. I had a set of tires like that once and took them back to the dealer and he told me not to worry about it. I wasn't impressed but I ran them till they wore out with no problems. I hope you have the same luck -

That is a ply overlap showing through the top coat of rubber.

Perfectly normal...it usually doesn't show up until the tire is heat cycled, load cycled, and has a few miles on them, but most light truck tires will end up with something similar over time.

Nothin' to worry 'bout.

I always heard it called as a broken or separated belt *shrug*

any tires i've had that happen to ran like they were out of balance, rebalancing usually helps but never had one go because of it. -

Wat miyagi said. It's just where the belt comes together when they manufacter the tire. Alot of tires develop it but sometimes it's more noticeable and sometimes you just dont notice it but it's there. You shouldn't have any problem with them......as long as you stop curbing them Who be jealous of my mad run-on sentences lulz. -

I asked our tire pros, showed them the pic's and thats what they told me:

These blemishes are considered to be normal and are not dangerous. It's simply a minor void in the splice in the rubber portion of the sidewall, not in the fabric that gives the tire its shape and strength. You can see them at all brands.

Be concerned about bubbles in the sidewall, not indentations.
Bubbles may be indicative of an internal flaw that's leaking air into the tire's internal construction.
Michael

PS: Dr - You don't like the GE AT²? I just tought about buying them, because they only run 81€ per tire. Do they wear quick?
